Some PayPal Users cannot Withdraw Funds to PayMaya Visa Prepaid Card

Written by

Some users are experiencing a problem with PayPal. The withdrawal of funds through instant transfer to any Prepaid Debit Visa card or Mastercard is restricted for some reason. As of the moment, we don’t know if it is a glitch or a new implementation for all PayPal users. What we know are all users who got the new interface for withdrawal are experiencing this problem.

UPDATE as of 03/10/2020 @07:59 PM: It seems PayPal patched the old transfer link and now redirecting to the new URL. Currently, there are no workaround for the affected Paypal and PayMaya users. Thanks to Genest Jan Ramirez for notifying us.

UPDATE as of 02/23/2020 @ 04:38 PM: Problem Solved! we received a comment from our reader Marie G and suggested a workaround for the PayMaya withdrawal problem. This is by using an old transfer link from PayPal at (https://www.paypal.com/moneytransfer/). We’ve tried using this old link and surprisingly, all of the PayMaya cards showed up again on the withdrawal list. Big Thanks to Marie G for sharing this solution! Below a sample screenshot of our successful transfer from PayPal to PayMaya!

UPDATE as of 01/28/2020 @ 10:15 AM: More users are experiencing the problem, they get these new error message while using PayMaya Card “These can’t be used for transfers, some banks and cards don’t accept transfers just yet”. No feedback from the Paymaya team yet.

UPDATE as of 11/27 @ 01:38 PM: Paymaya Escalation team updated us that they are awaiting a reply from PayPal. It seems the problem is from the PayPal part.

UPDATE as of 11/8 @ 9:45 PM: Paymaya reached out to us and they will further investigate the issue. We will update this post once we got feedback.

The instant transfer is one of the most convenient ways of transferring money from PayPal because of its realtime process. Most freelancers and gamers alike are using this type of transfer to get their funds from PayPal.

PayMaya, a fin-tech company and one of the popular online payment app in the Philippines are affected by this issue. Since PayMaya is using Prepaid VISA Card, withdrawing to PayMaya is not possible for some users for both instant transfer and standard transfer.

When you try to transfer money from your PayPal Balance, the prepaid card is no longer available in Instant Transfer.

When adding the PayMaya Prepaid card in the Instant Transfer, it will give you an error that says “Your Visa Prepaid Card ******** isn’t eligible for Instant Transfer”.

We are hoping that the PayMaya team will solve this issue as soon as possible. GCash payment gateway is also encountering a similar problem a week ago and it seems it is now affecting every debit prepaid cards.

As of the moment, the UnionBank of the Philippines EON Visa card is not affected by this issue. If you have EON, you can still transfer money using both the Instant Transfer and Standard Transfer.

Are you also encountering the same problem with PayMaya? Let us know in the comment section.

This happened to me last Friday. I thought I’m the only one. I have successfully linked my Paymaya VISA card but it’s not showing as an option for Withdrawal. I even phoned Paymaya and chatted Paypal for this issue. There’s no advice for Paymaya team that their card is no longer working. Paypal said the error is unknown and told me to try again after 48 hrs. Thanks for this article. Now I know why it’s happening.

Super bad timing on their part – kung kelan mag papasko na at kailangang i withdraw ung funds.

But, thanks for the heads up! PayPal Customer Service sucks, so at least having a heads up by means of your post is well appreciated.

Any update on this? I have the old Paymaya card (the green one) then I purchased the black one. I was able to withdraw thru Instant transfer until 2nd week of Jan 2020 but on the 3rd week until now, it doesn’t recognize the Paymaya card even the new 1 I linked. I have same error as you guys have posted.

I’m also suffering from the same issue, I’ve been using the same Paymaya account for more than a Year now-using it for solely for transferring Paypal funds.

Despite my Paymaya Card details already linked, Paypal keeps bugging me that I need to link a Card again. (I did this more than a dozen times now, but to no avail)

I contacted Paymaya, and they said it’s Paypal that’s having the problem. But when I also contacted Paypal, they said its Paymaya’s VISA card having problems.

Seems like both can’t even give a straight answer, and you’re just stuck in the middle, helpless.

Also curious, I have a friend who recently made a Paymaya account this January, and he’s not having any issues. I really believe that this issue is from Paymaya, I fear that their systems are at fault here.

If anyone has found any solutions, please do share them!

Last week it was working fine but now I can’t see Paymaya visa details in my Paypal account anymore. It’s asking me to link a card. Got some comments from other Paypal users that they did but it wasn’t working even if they do it again. What’s wrong with Paymaya and Paypal these days? Time to get another card and maybe another payment method other than Paypal and Paymaya. You think you two own the world? This is unacceptable!

I use gcash dati but last Decembr I switched to Paymaya. Then I somehow saw sa mga threads na merong hndi mkpagtransfer. I saw this link noon pa and I kept it. Last week nakapagtransfer pa ako Paypal to Paymaya but tonight ayaw. hndi na lumalabas sa choices yung paymaya card ko. so binalikan ko itong link from my notes and it worked like a charm!! nakapag-transfer ako. I’m using a desktop btw.

That’s because they’re now partnered with Globe and swtiched to Gcash. They don’t care if their customers are affected as long as they get the better deal.
