Battle Realms now Supports 4K Resolution and improved graphics via Direct3D 9

For those 90’s kids who have fond memories of playing Battle Realms, right now called as Battle Realms: Zen Edition, the game has received a major update on Steam that is sure to bring back some nostalgia. The update includes support for 4K resolution, an upgraded graphics API to DirectX 3D 9, and optimization for online gameplay.

The update to Battle Realms: Zen Edition brings a host of new features and improvements to the beloved strategy game. Players can now relive their memories of the game in stunning 4K resolution, bringing the world of Battle Realms to life like never before. Here are the newly added resolutions: 1152 x 864, 1280 x 720, 1280 x 960, 1366 x 768, 1600 x 900, 1600 x 1200, 2048 x 1080, 2560 x 1080, 2560 x 1440, 3840 x 2160 (4K). They also mentioned that some resolutions that are not in 4:3 or 5:4 will stretch the UI.

Other updates also include improvements to the textures using neural upscaling technology and remade most of the visual effects. While the 3D polygons remain the same, the textures have been given a look that enhances their appearance when viewed in higher resolution. Their artists also made manual fixes to further enhance the visual experience.

The game’s graphics API also has been upgraded to Direct 3D 9 from Direct 3D7, resulting in smoother and more stable gameplay. This update also includes optimizations for online gameplay, making it easier for players to connect and compete against each other, just like in the good old days in LAN Parties.

In addition to the visual improvements, AI system in campaign and skirmish battle were also improved and other gameplay mechanics.
