Today, there are only a few real-time strategy games being produced by major publishers. Recently, Age of Empires IV was released which somehow revives the RTS franchise that many gamers grew up playing. Another RTS game is currently in development that will be published by THQ Nordic, set in modern times.

Tempest Rising is a classic-style real-time strategy game announced for PC by Slipgate Ironworks and published by THQ Nordic. The game is set in a modern-day alternative history war scenario, where players must build bases to defend themselves against the backdrop of a world torn apart by war between powerful factions.

It is a strategy game inspired by the classic real-time strategy games of the 1990s and 2000s like Command and Conquer Red Alert 2, Generals and many more. It features classic base-building and resource management gameplay with a modern twist set in an alternate history where a global conflict has broken out – after a nuclear war. You will take control of one of three unique factions with their own technology and approach for combat.

The game’s story revolves around the mysterious but beneficial Tempest vines that grow unchecked across the war-torn planet Earth. Both the Global Defense Forces and the Tempest Dynasty seek to understand and control the vines. However, other dangers wait in the shadows, as the origin of the Tempest is revealed.

It will have two single-player campaigns with 15 missions each, and you can customize your army for every mission. A classic skirmish mode will also be in the game, but there is no word yet on an offline mode against AI. But there will be a multiplayer mode that allows players to compete against each other in ranked matchmaking.

If you’re a fan of classic RTS games, then you’ll definitely want to check out Tempest Rising and wish listing, it will be available next year, 2023. You can check the game right now on Steam at https://store.steampowered.com/app/1486920/Tempest_Rising/.
