It’s officially the spookiest season of the year, Halloween, or as it’s called in Old School Runescape (OSRS), Hallowe’en. The freaky festival has come to OSRS in the form of a fun Halloween event for players to sink their fangs into. The 2019 Halloween event takes place from 24 October to 7 November and the successful completion of the event comes with some great cosmetic rewards including Halloween themed outfits and masks and Old School Runescape Gold.
Getting Started
To start the Halloween event, which may earn you lots of OSRS Gold, simply run northeast from Lumbridge castle and straight up to the chicken hut. Here you’ll find several spookily dressed NPCs who are guarding a prisoner called Epic Mager34. These NPCs are two Goblins who believe that the prisoner killed them, turning them into ghosts. It’s clear to you that the Goblins are actually not dead, but if you point this out, expect to make them angry enough for them to threaten to lock you up too!
If you talk to EpicMager34, he’ll tell you that he has no idea what’s going on, and ask you for help. If you agree to help him, you’ll be sent to talk to Bob, who is located in the Axe shop just south of the Lumbridge castle entrance. When you talk to Bob, you’ll have the option to ask him about Halloween.
Bob will tell you that the Goblins have captured a new player because they believe the player has killed them. Bob confirms that the Goblins are not dead, and tells you to go talk to Father Aereck. Father Aereck will tell you that the Goblins were trick or treating and started fighting over sweets and they are still very much alive.
Free the Prisoner!
After this exchange, you should return to EpicMager34 to tell him what you’ve learned about his predicament. The prisoner theorizes that the Goblins have lost their memory due to the fight and that is the reason they mistakenly believe they are dead.
You and the prisoner will now come up with a plan to help the prisoner escape! You collectively decide that the best way to trick the Goblins is to get on their level and pretend you are also a dead Goblin. To enact this genius plan, you need to head back to Bob’s Brilliant Axes and take a bedsheet from a bed. You then use the knife given to you by the prisoner to cut two holes in the sheet, making it into a ghost costume.
Now return to EpicMager34 and complete the dialogue before turning your attention to the Goblins. They will treat you with caution initially, being wary of your ungoblin-like accent. You offer to free them of their post so they can take a break, but first, they want to make sure you are really a Goblin by asking you three questions.
The questions and answers are as follows:
- What is the most powerful body armor in this world? The answer is Goblin mail.
- Let’s say two goblins have a different opinion of something. What is the best way to solve the problem? The answer is Fight about it.
- What do you say when humans kill your friends and family? The answer is Put them in prison.
Even after correctly answering their questions, they’ll still be doubtful, coming up with one last task to prove yourself. They want you to steal a precious item from Lumbridge General Store and this item is shiny glass. Once you steal this item, they will believe you are a Goblin! The Halloween event is just supposed to be a bit of fun and a break from your usual questing or OSRS gp grinding so it’s great for players looking for a change of pace.
