Velocifire Wireless Mechanical Keyboard TKL02 / TKL02WS Review

Written by

There are numerous mechanical keyboards out in the market these days. But if you are looking for an affordable and reliable gaming keyboard, you may consider the Velocifire Mechanical Keyboard TKL02 / TKL02WS which only sold for $44.99 at their official Velocifire Store and in Amazon for $41.99.

Velocifire Mechanical Keyboard is a wireless keyboard with a built-in battery at 1850 mAh, which will last up to 21 days without a charge, the keyboard feels solid in the hands and quite heavy (Note: Author’s first time having a mechanical keyboard) with a weight of 2.2 pounds or 995 grams this keyboard is durable as it looks.

Looks and Feel

This mechanical keyboard is nice and straightforward. The case is made from black plastic and has an inclination to it. What we like from this keyboard is at the bottom, there is a couple of rubber on its tips and at the same time on the inclination to avoid slips on the surface, good for intense gaming.

Another plus point is, it comes with backlit keycaps, the backlight color is Ice Blue / White, so its neutral and can fit into any environment whether for office use or gaming. Unlike any other mechanical keyboards, the light on these keyboards are static and doesn’t come with a pattern effect or whatsoever. There is also an option to turn off the backlight which can be accessible by pressing the turn ON and OFF keys using FN + arrow UP and FN + arrow DOWN.

The previous model of this keyboard has its logo on the top of the keyboard besides the arrow keys. Now, The Velocifire logo is now moved on the front corner of the keyboard making it more elegant and simple.

No untangled wires, as this mechanical keyboard is wireless, you no longer have to worry with wires that makes your desk messy, this will make your desk clean. You only need to use wires when you need to charge the keyboard, this will also lessen your expenses on purchasing batteries as the keyboard has already a built-in battery and its rechargeable.

On the rear, there is a USB C port where you can charge your keyboard.

You can also easily turn off the keyboard with the switches on the other side.

Overall, a nice looking keyboard!

Keys

The Velocifire Wireless keyboard is powered by the Outemu Brown Switch, a lighter mechanical switch with subtle tactile and audible feedback. In my part of testing the keyboard, the keys felt really responsive, and the tactile sounds are nice to hear especially when playing intense video games like PUBG and DOTA 2. Plus, it’s Anti-Ghosting capabilities that will not miss any key presses you made.

Though many users wanted a silent keyboard, the audible feedback is an important part of the typing experience which the brown switch delivers this experience.

Unlike the other wireless mechanical keyboards, which is printed the letters on the keys and prone for wear and tear that makes the letter fade in the long run. In Velocifire Mechanical Keyboard, the letters are in transparent plastic that is covered with black material, similar to keys found in Macbook’s keyboard, these types of keys will last forever and will not fade even using it for years.

Wireless Connection

Not all users are fond of their keyboards with cables. With Velocifire Mechanical Keyboard, you can exceed your space limitation and keep your desktop free of tangled wires. If you connect the USB cable (charging mode), the default mode is switched automatically to wired mode. According to its User Manual ‘When the charging completes (as long as the USB receiver is used), it is automatically switched to wireless mode.’

As for observation, during wireless mode, the backlighting automatically turns off after 1 minute without use to save battery.

When in charging mode, connect the connector (USB 2.0) into your USB slot, and you will see the red light on the ‘SpaceBar’ which indicates that it is charging. See photo below:

Wireless Range of this keyboard is about around 26 feet or 8 meters.
