Dota 2 Can Now Boot on Android Using DroidDeck, but It’s Not Fully Playable Yet

We’re entering an era where games are no longer tied to their original platforms!

PC gaming on Android continues to evolve, and Dota 2 is among the latest games we’ve managed to launch using DroidDeck, an open-source project that brings the Steam gaming experience to supported Android devices.

DroidDeck uses technologies such as Valve’s ARM64 Steam client, Proton, and FEX translation to help run PC games directly on compatible Android hardware without relying on cloud streaming.

We Tested Dota 2 on a POCO F9 Pro

We tried launching Dota 2 on a POCO F9 Pro using DroidDeck, and surprisingly, the game successfully booted. We managed to navigate through the game and reach the hero selection screen. However, that’s as far as we could go as we got an error message reaching the match sequence.

While Dota 2 isn’t fully playable on Android through DroidDeck yet, the fact that it can already boot and reach hero selection is an interesting early result.

Projects like DroidDeck show how compatibility tools are gradually bringing PC gaming to more devices. Hopefully, future improvements will make it possible to play complete Dota 2 matches on Android.
