Cancelled Paranormal Activity Horror Game Returns as “Playable Archive,” Now Free on Steam

The cancelled Paranormal Activity: Threshold horror game has found a second life as Playable Archive, a short horror experience released for free on Steam on October 26, 2026. Developed by DarkStone Digital, the studio behind The Mortuary Assistant, and published by DreadXP, the game gives players a chance to explore part of the project that was originally cancelled.

Unlike the originally planned full game, Playable Archive is a standalone horror experience built from the cancelled project’s surviving content. It follows a couple in New England who discover a mysterious object while renovating their home. What begins as a simple renovation soon leads to disturbing supernatural events, demonic rituals, communication with the dead, and multiple timelines. The game takes about 30 to 60 minutes to complete. There is also no save system, meaning players will need to finish it in one sitting.

You can download the game now on Steam at https://store.steampowered.com/app/5356470/Playable_Archive/

Players can download Playable Archive directly from Steam at no cost. Simply visit the game’s Steam page, click Play Game, and install it on your PC.

For horror fans looking for something spooky to play over the Undas long weekend, Playable Archive offers a short supernatural mystery without having to spend anything.
