Trade Tales, a modern-life farming game infused with entrepreneurial adventures, is the latest creation from Filipino developer Jergs Correa, who leads the studio Brick Geek. Known for his previous success with Lockdown Hero, Correa returns with a bigger, and promising game that offers players the chance to manage a factory, open their own shop, and live their dream life. Launched on Kickstarter, Trade Tales has already surpassed its funding goal, reaching $30,474 (1.7 million PHP), far exceeding its initial target of $18,000 (1 million PHP).

Inspiration Behind the Game

Brick Geek drew inspiration from his passion for life simulation games and his desire to create the ultimate farming sim. “I felt many games in this genre lacked depth and long-term goals. With Trade Tales, I wanted to create an immersive and detailed experience that blends farming with entrepreneurial adventures,” he shared in our interview.

Game Storyline and Characters

In Trade Tales, the story begins with the player winning a small farm plot through a lottery, setting the stage for a new life filled with opportunities. The game narrative evolves based on players’ choices, influencing their path to success and shaping the town’s development. The player’s new home comes with a mysterious backstory, and fulfilling the current owner’s requests will uncover secrets and meet their wishes.

Representation of Filipino Culture

Trade Tales offers a rich representation of Filipino culture, with many elements inspired by Correa’s personal experiences as an entrepreneur in the Philippines. The game features cultural touches such as traditional Filipino food items like lechon, adobo, and isaw, as well as festivals inspired by Filipino traditions, including “agawan ng baboy” and palosebo. “I hope Filipinos will enjoy these familiar elements when the game is released,” Correa expressed.

Crowdfunding Success

Maintaining momentum during the crowdfunding campaign involved a multifaceted approach. Correa engaged with the community through regular updates, social media interactions, and announcements on platforms like Discord. Collaborations with popular creators helped reach a wider audience and generate excitement. Transparency and communication were key to ensuring backers felt involved and informed throughout the campaign.

Post-Release Support

Supporting Trade Tales and its community after release is a top priority for Correa. He plans to provide regular updates, patches, and new content to keep the game fresh and engaging. Engaging with the community through social media, forums, and Discord will allow him to gather feedback, address concerns, and foster a positive and inclusive environment. Post-release, Correa aims to expand the game’s universe with new features and events, ensuring players continue to have a rich and rewarding experience.
