Whether you’re playing your favorite video game or watching your favorite anime, the ASUS ROG X Evangelion is the perfect way to build a futuristic setup in a unique colours.

Luckily, GamingPH had a chance to review these limited line-up, though not the whole set – but the most important peripherals like the mouse, keyboard, mousepad and the headset. With a total price of PHP 28,160, the ASUS ROG X Evangelion is available in the Philippines to selected retailers. The individual prices for each peripheral are as follow:

  • ROG Keris Wireless EVA Edition gaming mouse priced at PHP 4,790

  • ROG Strix Scope RX EVA Edition Optical Mechanical Gaming Keyboard for PHP 7,290
  • ROG Scabbard II EVA Edition Gaming Mousepad for PHP 2,990.

In this review, we will focus more in-depth look at the aesthetics as well as quick run down for its features and performance.

Packaging

The sleek and stealthy packaging of ASUS ROG X Evangelion peripherals are designed to make sure you notice them on the shelf. The combination color black with silver fits well, giving it an eye-catching look that could be valuable as a collectors item for fans interested in the nostalgic Evangelion series or just wanting something unique!

For our first item, the ROG Keris Wireless Eva Edition Gaming Mouse comes with a matte black box showing the embossed drawing of the Unit-01 mechs. The front shows the logo of the two brands and the name of the peripheral.

The back of the packaging lists its main features, including 2.4GHz Wireless, Wired, and Bluetooth connections with support for ASUS Auro Sync. You can also find an official licensed sticker on top that confirms its authenticity; all packages include these stickers.

When you open the box, you will see the gaming mouse in a molded plastic showing its overall shape and look. It comes with two extra side buttons colored in purple and orange that can be exchanged for the default green buttons. As well as stickers for ROG.

As for the ROG Strix Scope RX EVA Edition Optical Mechanical Gaming Keyboard, it is one of the heaviest gaming keyboards on the market, weighing in at 1kg. It comes in an ordinary cardboard box similar aesthetic from the rest of the lineup.

At the back, it shows the main features like its ROG RX Red Optical Mechanical Switch, Water and Dust resistant and the support for the ASUS Aura Sync. Inside the box, we found the keyboard itself that is covered with black cloth and sits perfectly in the cardboard that prevent it from getting damage.

Next in line is the ROG Scabbard II EVA Edition Gaming Mousepad, it comes in a regular mouse pad long cardboard. Instead of the mecha Unit-01, it features a Japanese text and the anime’s iconic emergency warning.

The other side shows its feature like the military grade nano coating, anti-fray, narrow-stitch frame as well as the sticker. It weights at 640g. There is nothing special inside but the mousepad comes in a transparent plastic.

Lastly, the ROG Delta S EVA Edition RGB-Quad Gaming Headset is yet another high quality product from this lineup. It comes in a nice package that features the same style as their mouse but with an even larger and more solid design.

At the back, it has the details of all main features; the AI -*-oise-cancelling microphone, lightning sync with Aura, package content and many more.

Opening the box shows the aesthetic greeting cover “Welcome to the Elite Republic of Gamers Community”. Inside the box you’ll find the headset itself sitting on top of a black, rugged matte plastic tray. Peripherals such as the power cord and USB cable are located at the rear.

The packaging design is excellent and really catches your eye. It is sure to appeal to fans of Evangelion and gaming enthusiasts alike. The use of matte black and embossing gives it a premium feel with the combination of ROG’s iconic shiny logos that gives a pops. However, since this is a collaboration peripherals, it would be great if other peripherals includes an extra freebies from the anime and ROG just like what is included in the mouse.

ROG Keris Wireless EVA Edition Gaming Mouse

The ROG Keris Wireless Eva Edition Gaming Mouse is a wireless mouse heavily inspired by the Evangelion Unit-01 and based on their ROG Keris Wireless gaming mouse. Looking at the color purple matte part of the mouse is like the color and texture from a frozen Ube ice cream.

The mouse has prominent Evangelion prints all over it, including the Unit-01 on the body which lights up when the RGB turns on, Japanese word 覚醒 “awakening” at the bottom left, three circles representing the Evangelion Units, and synchronization chart prints. The mouse also has other terms from the anime written on it, designed to appeal to fans.

We weren’t able to show you the tear and wear result in this review, but upon checking the prints, it appears that they’re deeply embedded on it and should last long.

The mouse has a 16,000 DPI optical sensor that provides great accuracy while gaming. The sensor is able to detect even the slightest movements, so you can easily move your cursor across the screen without having to worry about losing track. Additionally, the mouse has a max acceleration of 40 G and a max speed of 400 IPS, which ensures that you’re able to move around quickly and easily in any game.

The ergonomic design of the gaming mouse makes it comfortable to use for long periods of time. It is molded for right-handed users, which can help make it an appealing option for most consumers. The only downside is that it didn’t include any textured sides or a rubber that should help keep the mouse in your hand more grip. But overall, the ergonomic design of the gaming mouse is well-thought-out and provides a great level of comfort.

The two swappable side buttons on the gaming mouse provide additional customization options. The buttons are magnetic, so they are easy to attach and remove by just using your fingernail, and they are also very tactile. The two extra colors included in the pack will enable you to personalize your mouse, and the screw attached underneath serves as its magnetic adapter is just clever hack design.

It is also hot swappable, meaning you can change the switches for the left and right buttons at any time with its extra two ROG Micro Switches – each with a lifespan of 70 million clicks. However, unlike the ROG Gladius III where you can easily open the mouse internally, this mouse requires unscrewing to replace its switches.

The cable also comes in a breaded dark purple like an Ube pastillas with USB Type-C for the mouse and USB 3.0 for PC connection. The wireless connection works well and includes a built-in USB dongle for it and has an option for Bluetooth incase for connecting to a devices without USBs.

ROG Strix Scope RX EVA Edition Gaming Keyboard

Based on the ROG Strix Scope, the keyboard is probably the star of this review and one of our most favorite from the lineup. The keyboard is well-built and very heavy at 1kg and the color violet metallic gives a high-end look. The prints are in light purple matte which can be seen at specific angles. The keycaps are made of plastic in color purple like the mouse’ Ube like ice-cream texture – when the RGB turned on it feels like a keyboard from the future especially on its original green color.

As for the Evangelion prints they are some of the most interesting and eye-catching designs that I have ever seen on a keyboard. Not only do they look great, but they also have a lot of references to the anime series Evangelion. The escape key caps of the head of the Mech 001, the radiation symbol on the F12, and the prominent space where it has a full print of the anime Mecha. They are a great addition to any collection and are sure to be a hit with any fan of the Evangelion anime.

The back of the keyboard is made from plastic and has a slant line pattern etched into it. It has a large rubber on the sides that provides extra grip and stability, preventing the keyboard from slipping around on your desk.

The keyboard feels great to type on, thanks to its responsive keys and comfortable ergonomic design. They are much taller than the keycaps on an ordinary keyboard, so you will need to adjust to the height difference when you switch. The keys have a really nice, responsive feel that makes it easy to play games or type quickly. The keyboard also has a great sound that makes it perfect for gaming.

The RGB lightning on this gaming keyboard is excellent. It really makes the keyboard stand out. The lighting is very bright and vibrant, and it looks really cool when it’s turned on. The lighting can be customized to match any color you want, so you can create a unique look that’s perfect for your setup. The keyboard also includes a built-in memory, so you can save your favorite lighting configurations and use them anytime you want.

The biggest downside for the keyboard is the large cable, making it difficult to hide if you are trying to have a clean set up, though this provides a more reliable and durability on its class. The size of the cable is comparable to the cable of the CPU power and requires two USB slots.

The gaming keyboard has a built-in USB slot which is incredibly convenient using their USB 2.0 Passthrough. This allows you to easily plug in your mouse, USB storage, or any other USB devices without having to fumble around behind your computer.

Other features: Anti-ghosting for accurate keypress even you type fast, on-the-fly macro recording, windows lock keys for undisturbed gaming and function lock keys that you can switch for work or game and wider control keys.

ROG Scabbard II EVA Edition Gaming Mousepad

The ASUS Scabbard II gaming mousepad is a great addition to your gaming gear and complete your Evangelion setup. It has a cloth surface that gives you a smooth and consistent glide, which is important for fast-paced games.

The surface is also treated with an anti-fraying material to prevent it from wearing out over time. Additionally, the mousepad has a durable and water-resistant that can withstand everyday wear and tear.

There is nothing more important with the mousepad, but if you’re looking for a gaming mousepad that will last long and provide a smooth gaming experience, the ASUS Scabbard II is a great option.

ROG Delta S EVA Edition RGB-Quad Gaming Headset

The ASUS ROG Delta S is known for its lightweight and great sound quality because of its one-of-a kind high-resolution ESS 9281 Quad-DAC and wide frequency response. It is the same case for the ROG DELTA S EVA Edition Gaming Headset, but with the anime color scheme (black, purple and green) and decals.

The headband is covered in a black leather, which contains ample foam padding on it that is comfortable for the head enough not to feel the metal frame and doesn’t put any pressure on your head.

The slider has a purple metallic-like finished with the ROG X Evangelion prints on it. When adjusting, you can see a silver metal frame with an engraved radiation print on it— behind this frame is a black plastic that shows the khara copyright mark.

The earcups holder can be rotate horizontally and vertically, unlike other headset that can only be rotated in one direction. This feature is a plus point for the headset, as it gives gamers more flexibility with how they want to wear the headset. It is made of plastic on the outside colored in the metallic-like purple while the inner side is colored green.

The D-shaped earcups itself has the same matte black finished with the original edition, while the center portion is the metallic-purple with the Evangelion Mecha character prints on it along with the ROG logo.

Turning on the RGB shows the stunning design of the headset with the vibrant RGB outline on the D-shaped together with the RGB logo on the left and “EVANGELION Test Type-01” on the right.

The ear cushion on the headset is extremely comfortable. It’s made of soft leather, with plenty of foam inside to keep your ears cushioned. The orange pattern inside is a nice touch that depicts the “Absolute Terror Field” from the anime, and the d-shaped hole fits comfortably against your ear without putting any strain on it.

If you’re not a fan of the feel of leather against your skin, the extra pair of ear cushion that comes with this gaming headset will be a welcomed addition. Made from fabric, these cushions allow for more air circulation, keeping your ears cooler and more comfortable even after hours of use.

Additionally, the headset also comes with a detachable mic that provides clear audio quality perfect for online gaming and voice chat. It also powered with ASUS AI Noise-Canceling.

The sound quality is excellent with good high and low and the mid-tones are well balanced which gives you an immersive gaming experience. Upon testing on FPS game, you can hear all of the foot steps, sound effects and dialogue clearly.
