Experiencing the 1st Anniversary Party of Ragnarok X Next Generation in the Philippines

Written by and

It’s been one year since the release of Ragnarok X Next Generation and players are still going strong. To celebrate, a caravan is being held to allow players to connect with each other and reminisce about their time in the game. This is a rare opportunity for players to connect with each other and the game in a real life setting. GamingPH was invited to this event, so we flew from General Santos to Manila to experience it firsthand and share our experience to you readers.

In this article, we will experience this event from the perspective of one of its participants – a fan who loves and has played the game since day one.

As for those who didn’t know, Ragnarok X Next Generation celebrates its first anniversary. A caravan has opened in three selected countries and the Philippines is one of them besides Indonesia, and Thailand. From June 18th to July 2, 2022, anyone is invited to experience the carnival, with a variety of activities to offer, including a Claw machine, message wall, ROX photo attraction, foods and a poring cotton candy. Whether you’re a non-player, player or veteran, there’s something for everyone at this year’s event.

Almusal Cafe turns Prontera

As you enter the location, you will be greeted with Ragnarok X Next Generation themes, including the background music of Prontera. The ambiance will make you feel as if you are inside the game.

Cut-outs of your favorite game class characters and NPC Kafra will be available. There will also be logos from Ragnarok X and a bunch of cute monsters like Poring, Deviling and more.

Make sure you charge your phone and prepare for some great photo ops! Like our Managing editor did!

Inside the Almusal Cafe, you’ll find walls adorned with wallpaper depicting the six classes. (The photo was taken early in the morning, so it’s quite different from the afternoon, when the restaurant is full.) It’s like the tavern but with no panco or “Bunong Braso”

Information about all of the activities are displayed near the counter, so make sure you have completed all of the five activities to maximize your loot.

Ala Lv.10 ROX Cooking

Almusal Cafe, known for serving Filipino-American cuisine, is excited to add their favorite dishes to the Ragnarok X Next Generation Menu. These dishes can’t be found in the game, but they’re sure to be a hit with everyone who tries them. You can also take a photos of your meal and post it on the social media (Facebook and Instagram) with the hashtag #ROX1stanniversary. Make sure your game ID is on the caption to get a chance to win prizes.

You’ll get a free drink of your choice with your meal! Their level 10 food-cooking-buff-like chefs will make sure you’re satisfied. And don’t forget to ask for their free Affogato Dessert (Vanilla ice cream + Espresso coffee) and the post card with stickers.

The first item on the menu which cost around PHP 350 is the Pancakes, which comes with bacon strips and are served with honey, butter, and whip cream. The pancakes are thicker and fluffier than your average pancake, big enough to satisfy a hearty appetite.

The second item on the menu is the Bangus Ala Pobre for PHP 450, a deep fried boneless bangus tossed in a soy garlic glaze and served with egg and rice. The garlic adds a delicious flavor to the dish, along with the bits of black rice together with the tender of white rice. It’s the perfect meal to start your day or an early run of Dracula Hard Mode (DCH) instance.

The third item on the menu is the Sausage Egg N’ Cheese for PHP 450, a hamburger where the soft bun is made in kamote (potato) with a patty of their juicy housemade sausage, fried eggs and cheddar. You can then dip it along with the ketchup. If you want a quick snack while waiting to refill your Odin’s Blessings at the Prontera, this is for you.

For the drinks, you can choose from a Plain Iced Tea, Peach Basil Iced Tea, Lemonade or a Hot Tea. We have tried all of them except for the Hot Tea, and both the Plain Iced Tea and Lemonade are sweet and target for Filipino taste buds. While the Peach Basil Iced Tea has a mixed of their secret spices that taste very much like a tea with a slight taste of pepper or star anise-like flavor.

Overall, the food is great and the price may be a bit expensive for some, but you get your money’s worth with the free drinks and freebies that comes with it. As a fan of Ragnarok, this is a must try. The Ragnarok display plates on the table are not lootable. We know it’s tempting, but please don’t steal them. These plates are part of the decoration that is meant to be enjoyed by all.

Activity Area

When you’re feeling full and ready for an adventure, you can go outside and enjoy the activity-filled world of Ragnarok quests, but in real life. With exciting challenges and rewards waiting for you, you’re sure to enjoy every activity they have while enjoying the new updates and Attack on Titan crossover of Ragnarok X Next Generation 1st anniversary.

When you purchase the set meal above, you’ll get a free and fresh cooked Poring Cotton candies outside.

These Poring cotton candies are too cute not to eat, you’ll want to take photos of them before they melt! They make the perfect sweet treat as you enjoy the rest of the activities.

The Claw Machine will reminisce about the gacha machine on the Prontera and you’ll get 5 attempts for every meal you purchase. We know you hate Gacha, but no worries! The chances of getting your loot here is like 10% and we personally get a Poring Payong or Umbrella with the first try out of 10 attempts.

Each of the Poring on the machine has a number, each of the numbers has equivalent prices that you can claim in the area. The Claw Machine is a great way to get your hands on some rare and unique merchandise items. With a little luck, you could walk away with some amazing prizes such as the Poring Umbrella, Poring Plushies and Mini Gacha Figurines.

Adventurers seeking to relax and have fun can also get coloring cards from the staff. Giving adventurers an opportunity to show off their creative side.

As a special treat for ROX’s first birthday, they will be featuring cosplayers at the event. These amazing costume artists will be around the area.

They’re super friendly, so don’t be shy about asking for pictures. This is a great opportunity to get some great photos and maybe even make some new friends.

You’ll get to meet your own class character. We have seen Assassins, Wizards, High Priests, ArchBishops, and many more on the first day alone.

To make your photo ops complete, you can also take advantage of the photo area at the event. This is the perfect place to get a photo of you with your favorite character or take a selfie with the event’s backdrop.

As you celebrate the 1st year anniversary of ROX, you can also write your best wishes to the game at the message wall. Who knows, your guild mates might be here to celebrate with you. Make sure to check out every note and see if anyone from your server has left you one.

Play the Attack on Titan crossover event, the 5 Humans vs 1 Titan of “War of Freedom”. The game will be available from 1:00 PM to 2 PM every day, you’ll have a chance to receive a set of Attack on Titan limited postcards from the staff by showing the game result.

Meet the Adventurers

A number of players came from different servers. Heimdal – Demon’s Castle server was represented by Geno Guild, who were celebrating Ragnarok X’s Next Generation first anniversary. Geno Guild expressed their enjoyment of the event and commented that it had been their first time celebrating with the rest of their guild. They also stated that it was also their first anniversary as a guild since they started playing on day one. They are happy to have their Guild leader celebrating with them and looking forward to many more years of playing the game and celebrating anniversaries like this with their guild.

We also met families who are avid fans of the game, including one aunt who said she enjoyed the activities and especially the loot package she earned for taking part. She is a big fan of the game and it was a great opportunity to bond with her nephew who was also an avid ROX player. They hail from Seocho Market server and Davao.

Players are eagerly waiting in line to get their hands on the newest ROX gear. Many are excited to see what the new gear has to offer.

During the first day, there are game activities wherein adventurers can win prizes by joining different games such as Guessing games and OX Quiz. You can show your skills and shout out your guild among adventurers by participating in these games.

Final Thoughts

Overall, the activities for Ragnarok X Next Generation’s first anniversary and the pop-up stores set up for this event were fun, not just for players but for non-players as well. What’s more, the event had a lot of people coming and enjoying the activities which just goes to show how great of a success it was. The feeling of the game being brought to life is just amazing and we can’t wait to see it again in the upcoming event.

ROX 1st Anniversary Pop-up Carnival is open to everyone. As the organizers said, ROX wants guild members and adventurers to meet in person, not just online, to create what they say are lasting memories. Those who don’t play Ragnarok X Next Generation can discover what the game is and take photos with their friends at the carnival; they also get to eat some food and get free cotton candies.
