Steam Hit 20,000,000 Concurrent Players amid Covid-19 Pandemic

Today, the digital PC gaming platform, Steam just broke their own previous record of most concurrent players around the world. Based from their statistic tracker, the peak reaches 19,728,027 concurrent players this weekend, 10:40 PM Saturday evening (Manila, Philippine Time).

Steam recorded their previous record at approximately 18,801,944 back in February 2020. The increase in players jumps almost a million in the wake of Covid-19 Pandemic.

Many players around the world most probably starting to practice higher level of caution to avoid spreading or getting the virus. Also, countries starting to declare their own community quarantine or lock down in their affected cities. This leaves players more time to play video games while staying at their home.

The increase in peak was contributed from its platform’s popular video games like the Counter-Strike: Global Offensive (CSGO), Dota 2, PlayerUnknown’s Battleground, Tom Clancy’s Rainbow Six Siege, Grand Theft Auto V and other more.
