Gamescom Opening Night Live 2026 kicked off this year’s massive gaming event in Cologne with two hours packed with world premieres, surprise announcements, gameplay reveals, and updates on some of the industry’s most anticipated titles. Hosted by Geoff Keighley and sjokz, the showcase delivered everything from the return of beloved franchises to completely new games, while also giving players plenty to look forward to throughout 2027.
Here are some of the biggest game reveals and premieres from Gamescom ONL 2026.
Mega Man: Dual Override
Mega Man: Dual Override returned with a brand-new gameplay trailer, offering another look at Capcom’s upcoming entry in the legendary action series. The showcase introduced previously unseen characters Proto Man and Twinkle Girl, with the latter joining the franchise as an entirely new character. Mega Man: Dual Override is currently targeting a 2027 release across Nintendo Switch 2, PS5, PS4, Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One, and PC.
Nodus Fall
HoYoverse opened the main showcase with the world premiere of Nodus Fall, revealing a considerably darker experience than many players may expect from the studio behind Genshin Impact and Honkai: Star Rail. The new co-op action game allows up to four players to become Weavers and venture across a ruined world filled with mythical gods and monsters, making it one of the more unexpected new IP reveals of the night.
Rainbow Six Tactics
Ubisoft is taking its long-running tactical franchise in a different direction with Rainbow Six Tactics, a new single-player turn-based strategy game starring familiar Operators from the Rainbow Six universe. The reveal showed a tactical experience reminiscent of games such as XCOM, with players deploying Operators around the world to tackle dangerous threats through careful planning and strategic combat. Rainbow Six Tactics is scheduled to arrive sometime in 2027.
Tides of Annihilation
Tides of Annihilation returned with its “Beneath the Veil” story trailer, giving players another glimpse into its spectacular blend of modern London and Arthurian fantasy. Players take control of Gwendolyn, a survivor exploring a London fractured by an invasion from the Otherworld, where reality and fantasy have begun bleeding together. Her journey will involve legendary Knights of the Round Table, colossal enemies, and a fight to save both her family and the shattered city. The action adventure is in development for PS5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC.
Warlock: Dungeons & Dragons
Warlock: Dungeons & Dragons stepped into the spotlight with its first major gameplay reveal, offering a closer look at a new adventure built around one of the tabletop universe’s most fascinating classes. The footage showcased magical combat, traversal, platforming, environmental puzzles, and a talking flying companion as players explore its fantasy world. The game is currently in development for PS5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC, with a release planned for 2027.
Hitman: World of Assassination – The Herbalist
IO Interactive delivered one of ONL’s more unexpected collaborations with Hitman: World of Assassination – The Herbalist, a new Elusive Target featuring none other than Snoop Dogg. The rapper takes on the role of The Herbalist, bringing another celebrity crossover into Agent 47’s ever-expanding assassination sandbox. The reveal adds yet another unusual target to Hitman: World of Assassination and was easily among the night’s more surprising announcements.
Metro 2039
The tunnels are calling once again in Metro 2039, with 4A Games showing new gameplay from the next installment in its acclaimed post-apocalyptic franchise. Developers described this chapter as darker and more personal, while the footage showed many of the elements that have defined Metro: claustrophobic underground environments, a devastated surface, radiation, horrifying creatures, weapon customization, and brutal close-quarters survival.
Heroes of Might and Magic 3 Remake
Ubisoft brought back a strategy classic with the surprise reveal of Heroes of Might and Magic 3 Remake. The legendary turn-based strategy game is being reimagined for modern hardware, giving longtime fans an opportunity to rediscover one of the most celebrated entries in the franchise while introducing its kingdom-building and tactical battles to a new generation. The remake is headed to PC, PS5, and Xbox Series X|S.
Zoopunk
Zoopunk made an impression with a fresh look at its unusual world of animal folk, machinery, and fast-paced combat. The latest footage put the spotlight on the game’s squad-based combat system, showing its anthropomorphic cast battling mechanical enemies in a distinctive setting. With its combination of stylized characters, machines, and action-heavy gameplay, Zoopunk stood out as one of ONL’s more visually distinctive showcases.
Final Fantasy VII Revelation
Square Enix brought Final Fantasy VII Revelation back into the spotlight with a new trailer focused on the enormous stakes facing Cloud and his companions in the final chapter of the Final Fantasy VII remake trilogy. With the party now fully assembled, including Vincent Valentine and Cid the story is heading toward its climactic confrontation as the heroes fight to determine the fate of the planet. Final Fantasy VII Revelation is scheduled for Spring 2027 on PS5, Nintendo Switch 2, Xbox Series X|S, and PC.
The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt Remastered
One of the night’s biggest surprises came from CD Projekt Red with the announcement of The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt Remastered. The enhanced edition brings Geralt’s celebrated adventure back with remastered visuals alongside improvements to combat and movement, providing another reason for veterans to return to the Continent. Even better, players won’t have to wait long: The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt Remastered is set to arrive on September 29, 2026.
The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt – Songs of the Past
Gamescom ONL 2026 closed out its major reveals with another reason for Witcher fans to return to the Path. The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt – Songs of the Past is a brand-new, full-fledged expansion being developed in partnership with Fool’s Theory and a team that includes veteran The Witcher 3 developers. Geralt will return as the protagonist for another adventure featuring a new region, new monsters, and new dangers before the franchise eventually continues with Ciri in The Witcher 4. Most importantly, Songs of the Past is officially coming in 2027 for PS5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC.
Gamescom Opening Night Live 2026 delivered a packed start to this year’s event, balancing completely new reveals with major updates and unexpected returns from some of gaming’s biggest franchises. From Nodus Fall and Rainbow Six Tactics making their debuts to Metro 2039, Final Fantasy VII Revelation, and the return of The Witcher 3, the showcase gave players plenty to keep on their radar. With several of these titles already targeting 2027, this year’s ONL didn’t just preview the months ahead, it helped set the stage for another huge year of gaming.
