PlayStation users are reporting a new 30-day license validation requirement for newly purchased digital games, affecting titles that are otherwise fully downloaded and playable offline. Based on our own testing, newer digital purchases now show a “Valid Period” and “Remaining Time” on the console, indicating when the game’s offline access needs to be refreshed.

The check appears to require the console to reconnect to the internet within the listed validity period to verify the license again. Importantly, the countdown does not pause or reset while the console is offline, meaning the displayed end date serves as the actual deadline for renewing offline access.
Older digital purchases do not appear to be affected based on current observations. However, if a newly purchased title fails to complete the license check before the validity period ends, it may become temporarily inaccessible until the console reconnects online.
