Packaging

The VOLTME Revo 140W PD3.1 GaN Charger comes in an eye-catching silver box with the striking VOLTME logo, along with intricate engraved-like patterns that give the packaging a premium and sophisticated appearance.

On the back, you’ll find the essential information about the charger, including its specifications, the output features for each port, and the total wattage it can produce. Additionally, the charger comes with an 18-month hassle-free warranty, offering you peace of mind in case you encounter any issues or malfunctions during its use.

At the top of the box, there is an authentication sticker that guarantees the product’s authenticity, providing an additional layer of trust and confidence in the VOLTME brand.

The bottom part of the box, featuring a contrasting orange color, displays the packaging details, adding a touch of vibrancy to the overall design.

Design and Build Quality

The VOLTME Revo 140W PD 3.1 GaN Charger sports a sleek and compact black design, which could appeal to gamers looking with its all-in-one charging solution. Its appearance can be likened to an Apple charger but on steroids and in black.

It’s worth noting that the charger is made of plastic, which means its matte black finish may be susceptible to fine line scratches. In our experience, we noticed some faint lines after some scratches – it shows when the charger was exposed to light; however, these scratches didn’t significantly impact the overall appearance, and the charger still looked presentable despite the minor imperfections.

There are three ports in the charger, the top Type-C port is capable of delivering up to 140W for gaming laptop and MacBook. The second Type-C port, on the other hand, has a maximum output of 100W, which should be more than adequate for most laptops and tablets. Finally, there’s a USB-A port intended for smartphones, providing up to 22W of power.

As for the power plug outlet, it has a foldable wall plug, which allows users to easily flip and snap it back into the charger’s body when not in use.

Charging Performance

We put the VOLTME Revo 140W PD 3.1 GaN Charger to the test with various devices to assess its charging performance. We used a 2017 Macbook Pro 15′ inch, which had experienced a decline in charging capacity over time. Originally, our laptop would take 2 hour and 10 minutes to charge up to 100%. However, when using the VOLTME Revo 140, the charging time significantly decreased to just 1 hour and 53 minutes – an impressive noticeable improvement compared to the original charger.

We also tested the VOLTME Revo on a smartphone that supports fast charging. With the original charger, the phone would fully charge in 39 minutes. In contrast, the VOLTME Revo managed to charge the phone to 100% in only 30 minutes. These results suggest that the VOLTME Revo 140W PD 3.1 GaN Charger delivers on its promise of efficient and speedy charging across various devices even exceeding the original charger performance.

When it came to charging our Nintendo Switch, we observed comparable results between the VOLTME Revo 140W PD 3.1 GaN Charger and the regular charger. The standard charger took 2 hours and 3 minutes to fully charge the gaming console, while the VOLTME Revo delivered a nearly identical performance, charging the Switch in 2 hours and 4 minutes.

However, when we tried charging a Windows gaming laptop, the ThinkPad X1 Carbon, which typically takes 2 hours and 55 minutes to charge fully, the VOLTME Revo fell short of expectations. In this case, it took 3 hours and 23 minutes to charge the laptop. Not sure what is the reason, but probably on the laptop’s charging requirement.

We’re also eager to test the VOLTME Revo 140W PD3.1 GaN Charger with the Steam Deck, which has a 45W charging requirement. However, we currently don’t have access to the unit. Once we obtain the Steam Deck and conduct our tests, we will update this review to provide insights into the charger’s performance and compatibility with this gaming device. So, stay tuned for our future evaluation of the VOLTME Revo’s capabilities when paired with the Steam Deck.
