If you’re thinking, why people use Magic Bait in Prontera South Gate?

Guarantee to Get the Correct Fish, but still to Compete with other Players

We are too curious about this fishing spot and we have tested this method for 5-day straight to confirm if it is really for the Magic Bait contest and we are 100% sure. Though this method will not guarantee you to win the Magic Bait Competition as there are also other players competing with you and only the top 150 players will be able to win the competition for that day. However, this method will give you a higher chance of getting the correct fish for the competition and the only thing you had is to compete for size.

When doing the Magic Bait competition you’ll get three types of message:

  • This type of fish is not in the Fish Print Ranking – It means the fish you got is not on the competition.
  • This type of fish is not in the rankings yet. Continue to work hard! – It means the fish you got is for competition, but it is not in the top 50.
  • This type of fish is currently ranked at number [1 to 50] – It means the fish you got is in the top 50.

When you do this method, you’ll get 1 to 5 chances of getting the correct fish for the contest. This is far different from doing the magic bait fishing on the South Gate Prontera.

Fishing Spot for Magic Bait

So, the secret fishing spot for Magic Bait is located at the Izlude island. You probably see this while playing on some mission board but you ignore it as you may thought it was just for some decoration, but this location is actually for fishing and it is actually imprint on the Fishing Contest manual.

From here, you get a higher chance of getting the correct fish. In our test, we have get the correct fish 3 to 5 times a day. You’ll know it is the correct fish when you’ll get either the “This type of fish is not in the rankings yet. Continue to work hard!” or the “This type of fish is currently ranked at number [1 to 50]” message.

Step by Step to Magic Fishing Contest

If it is your first time to do the Magic Fishing Contest, you can do this by completing the Daily task called Xavier’s Mysterious Item. You can click this quest on the left corner of the game screen and it will auto path find the NPC Xavier at the Prontera South Gate.

You then need to give Xavier, 10 the same type of fish to start the Quest. If you haven’t one, you need to do fishing at the corner or purchase some from the Exchange Center. You may also use bait to focus on the type of fish you’re getting from the Bait Merchant at Alberta.

Once done, you can now go to the Izlude Island and proceed on the fishing spot.

Once you’re in the area, go to the edge of the docking area until the Fish button appears. Then click it and start fishing.

Chances of getting the correct bait is about 30% to 40%. From there, you need to compete with other player with the biggest fish obtained during the contest. If lucky, you’ll get this type of message “This type of fish is currently ranked at number [1 to 50]“. But note that your ranking spot is not yet final, winners will be tallied at exactly 1:00 AM (GMT +8, Manila, Philippine Time).

If you’re lucky, craft the fish and you can immediately proceed to Xavier at the Wishing Tree of Prontera South Gate. If not, you need to do it again until you either get the top 50 ranked fish or run out of Magic Bait.

In the example picture above, we were able to ranked at top 4 for fish Soldierfish.

Timing

When you do the fishing early morning at the server refresh time 6:00 AM (GMT +8, Manila, Philippine Time), you have a higher chance of getting to the top ranked list, but you will not hold that place longer simply because there are still other player who have not submitted yet their entry for the contest. Usually, when we do this contest at early morning, we were able to ranked better (eg. at 4) – but on the final tally, our rank falls drastically to 24.

But when you play the game at a later time evening at 10:00PM to 5:49 AM (GMT +8, Manila, Philippine Time), you’ll get to see most of the final entry as other player already finished playing their daily task. From here, your ranked entry will have 80% guarantee of not falling or outranked.

Track your Ranking and Prizes

Here, your record will be added once you reach the top 50. But usually it takes for about 5 minutes for your name to be displayed. Your ranking may also change as other player are also getting new scores.
