Twitch is dropping its Ad-Free Perk for Twitch Prime Subscribers

When subscribing to a Twitch Prime, you’ll be able to watch your favorite streamers ad-free without those 10 seconds ad plays every three times in a row. Unfortunately, Twitch just announced yesterday that they’re going to drop the ad-free viewing for Twitch Prime Subscriber, in order for them to earn more revenue and a possibly indirect benefits for the streamers.

Twitch Prime is a $12.99 per month subscription plan that is also bundled with Amazon Prime. That will give you ad-free viewing experience with free games and in-game loot. Next Month, September 14, the ad-free viewing experience will no longer part of the Twitch Prime subscription.

Twitch justified the new changes of the Prime subscription, they say “strengthen and expand that advertising opportunity for creators so they can get more support from their viewers for doing what they love”, basically, more money for the streamers.

However, a lot of streamers take stance on this new changes. A streamer named QuirkyGeek17 says “Ads everywhere else earn for Twitch. ‘More money for content creators! Not really.”

Another streamer Goldenboy says “The new Twitch Prime update remove one of the biggest perks of using the service, which was removing ads. I can imagine that had a big impact on their ad buys and bottom line. I get it, but i don’t.”

What are your thoughts on this new changes of Twitch Prime? Are you also one of the affected subscriber? Let us know in the comment section.
