The first time you install the Steam version of the Grand Theft Auto V (GTA V) on your PC, it will ask you to activate the game with the Rockstar Games Social Club, an official game client for the GTA V. This requires you to connect to the Internet to activate the Rockstar activation code provided by the Steam.

When activating the game, you get an error pops up saying “Error contacting redemption Server. Please check your connection or try again later.“. Most people who got this problem is from the Asian countries including the Philippines. The main culprit of this problem probably when there’s a blocked port coming from your ISP (Internet Service Provider), which your connection prevents you to connect to the Rockstar Social Club server. This problem also happens on other games especially Ubisoft’s games when playing online coop.

The only way to get rid of this problem is to use a new internet connection or use a VPN.
