How to Use FreeStyle in NVIDIA GeForce Experience

NVIDIA latest update includes the new filter for your game the FreeStyle, it works like an Instagram version of your game where you can set filters and vignettes in real-time. It is very similar to the thirdparty game filter reShader.

To get this new filter of NVIDIA, you need to have the latest version of your NVIDIA GeForce Experience and updated driver as well. You also have to enable or check the “Enable experimental features. A Geforce Experience update may be required.” in the GeForce Experience settings. Once you done, restart your PC and you can now set filter to your game by just pressing ALT + F3.

NVIDIA FreeStyle has 3 available style slot for your preset filter, where you can save and easily switch to different preset filter anytime you want. You may also mixed different kind of filter to suite your preferences.

Here are the following filters that are currently available in FreeStyle. We also uploaded a screenshot comparison to help you identify the difference of each filter from the original.

Adjustment

This setting is the most basic one, you can set the Brightness, Contrast and Vibrance of your game. It’s like the features of changing the color settings from your TV or monitor.

Black & White

Sets the game screen to Black and White, you may set it’s intensity from 0 to 100.

Color

In filter Color, you can set the vibrance of the color to strong or to pale. It also has the Color Enhancer that you can set from 0 to 100.

Color Blind

This very helpful filter will probably help color blind people to improve their gaming experience. There are 3 types of color blind settings that you can set (Protanopia, Deuteranopia and Tritanopia).

Contrast

Aside from Adjustment, you may also add contrast to this filter and set the gamma.

Details

This filter will probably help you from playing shooter games like PUBG. You can make your game more sharpen on this filter. It also has clarity, HDR Toning and Bloom.

Depth of Field

So far this is the filter we don’t get any effect to the game, it may be useful to other games but this features will let you set game blur of far and near, or the depth of field.

Exposure

This filter will let you set the Exposure, Highlights and Shadow of your game. If you need to see more the dark spot of you game, you now lighten it by setting the shadow.

Half Tone

One of the coolest filter, it let you set your game to cartoon like pattern. Best for taking video shot of the game.

Mood

The mood let you adjust the tint color of your game it also allow you the temperature intensity that will make your game more yellow or blue.

Retro

This filter is like the one you see in Instagram of other popular camera app. It will create a fish eye effect with vignettes darkness around the screen. From the word Retro, it’s like playing from 80’s TV.

Sepia

Will set your game to brownish greyscale like the color of an old book or newspaper.

SpecialFX

The fun part filter where you can make your game looks like a sketch and you make also add some vignettes effect in it.

Vignettes

Add additional vignettes effect to your gameplay.
