Black Fairy Tale Halloween Event Guide in Ragnarok X Next Generation (ROX)

As the eerie winds of October gather, the world of Ragnarok X Next Generation (ROX) beckons its brave adventurers to partake in a Halloween celebration like no other: the Black Fairy Tale event. Merging the mystical allure of fairy tales with the spine-tingling essence of Halloween, this event promises not only challenges and riddles but also a plethora of rewards for all adventurers.

In this guide, we will walkthrough you on the brand-new Halloween event Black Fairy Tale in Ragnarok X Next Generation.

How to Participate in Halloween Revelry “Black Fairy Tale”

Every evening, from 8:00PM to 9:00PM (Manila, Kuala Lumpur, Jakarta Time) or 7:00PM to 8:00PM (Server time), the in-game instance Halloween Revelry event started. During this time, adventurer can talk to the NPC Jack, positioned near the base of the Odin Statue to start the in-game instance.

Once started, you’ll be teleported to the Prontera’s Halloween-themed map. Here, you can join fellow adventurers in defeating MVP, Mini event bosses, and monsters that drop key event materials. Over the span of an hour, your objective is to accumulate points by targeting MVP/Mini event bosses and monsters. Additionally, random buff/debuff items present can enhance your event experience.

The Halloween Revelry “Black Fairy Tale” Event

Within the 1-hour event, various MVP/Mini bosses emerge in 8 distinct Prontera map locations. These bosses spawn sequentially, each during specific time intervals (10/20/35/50 minute mark). Recognizing these intervals can help players target bosses that align with their skill set, optimizing their score.

Post-event, all points are tallied, and rewards are disbursed according to each adventurer’s ranking based on the soul points accrued.

How to get More Event Drops

Although reminiscent of last year’s event, the aim remains the same: accumulate as many points and drops as possible. Stay vigilant about which channels attract significant numbers of high-level players (whales/dolphins) and observe which MVP/Mini they’re targeting.

This insight can help you determine which boss easily been defeated in which will allow you to get as many points. To earn a point, a hit to the bosses before it is eliminated is considered counted as long as you are alive at a safe distance when that happens.

Also, take note of the monster elimination limits:

Normal Monsters20 times
Mini Boss4 times
MVP Boss4 times
Main Boss2 times
Crazy Hat2 times

Event Exchange

Items collected during the Halloween Revelry can be exchanged for event-specific costumes, progression materials, and more. To exchange, talk to the Jack NPC near the Odin Statue and look for the Exchange Materials.

Halloween Faerie’s Whisper Riddle

Before the main event at 7:00PM (Manila, Philippine Time) or 6:00PM (Server Time), adventurers can engage in a riddle challenge. Jakk will present a set of questions, and participants must discern the correct answers. These answers, coupled with a unique 3-digit code, should be submitted in the world chat. For instance: GAMINGPH-123.

The mechanics for getting the clue are the same, the Messenger List (Plaintext) provides a sequential list of NPCs from whom you need to gather clues. Meanwhile, the Messenger List (Exclusive) presents the sequential clues for your 3-digit code. To retrieve each clue, you must execute a specific social action with the respective messenger, which you have to guess.

Last year, we provided extensive guidance on decoding these riddles. Our all-encompassing decipher tool is still available at https://gamingph.com/rox/ro-halloween-cipher.html. Simply input the clue, and the tool will generate a list of possible answers based on algorithms.

Messenger Social Actions

Here are specific social actions for each messenger in the Prontera map:

MessengersMap Location
Juste (Balloon)
Ryfe (Clap)
Damian (Play Cute)
Quiqui (Celebrate)
Lanbo (Spin)
Taylin (Walk it Out)
Tesso (Scared)
Lerin (Cheers)
Anita (Sit)
Bennit (Make a Heart)
Shuling (Kabedon)
Carbon (Shake)
Qingqing (Zombie Hop)
Clarice (Blow Kisses)

Answer Keys and Solution

We will try to answer the daily riddle and update this section regularly.

QuestionsAnswers

Day 1 Cipher
(Morse Code)

“Tick tock… Tick tock…” The invention of the telegraph made it possible for humans to use electricity for communication.

The deciphered code is the ciphertext! It has 9 English letters.

If you don’t understand, please refer to the Morse Code chart!

Yes! Get to work, telegrapher!!! Each Faerie Messenger may play a code consisting of multiple letters. I separated the codes with acoustic isolation.
When talking to the messenger NPCs, you’ll be able to hear a morse code. Listening to all will allow you to get:

… -. --- .-- .-- …. .. -

Translating these mores code gives us SNOWWHIT, there is something missing, letter E. Not sure if it is just a bug, but the correct answer should be SNOWWHITE as Jack says it is composed of 9 characters.

The answer is SNOWWHITE

Here is the interaction you need: Zombie Hop, Balloon, Shake

Day 2 Cipher
(Caesar Cipher)

Don’t think of yourself as a hunter who has already aimed at the target. The answer can be slightly off, just like your arrow!

The deciphered code is the ciphertext! It has 10 English letters!

The letters you can see have been shifted backward by 5 positions.
When talking to the NPCs, it will give you a character code:

R F Q J K N H J S Y

Based on the clue, Jack mentions shifting backward. Well, we know Caesar Cipher is one of those that uses this encryption. So when shifting the alphabetically backward by 5, “R” is “M”, F is “A”, and so on.

The answer is MALEFICENT

Here is the interaction you need: Celebrate, Spin, Balloon

Day 3 Cipher
(Rail-Fence Cipher)

A fence may stop my footsteps, but it can’t stop my thoughts!

The decipher code is the ciphertext! It has 10 English letters!

Imagine a fence and how each plank is staggered.

Don’t tell me you have been stumped by the Rail-Fence Cipher!
After talking to the Messenger NPCs, we were able to get a code of:

N W L T E E C O H S

If we put these letters in two rows:

N_W_L_T_E
_E_C_O_H_S

Combining the 1st and 2nd row, we get a readable word.

The answer is NEWCLOTHES

Here is the interaction you need: Scared, Shake and Sit

Day 4 Cipher
(Mathematics and Substituion Cipher)

Today, I’ll become the nightmare that haunted your schoodays. Prepare to face the trial of Judge Mathematics, Adventurer!

The deciphered code is the ciphertext! It has 8 English letters!

Arrange the 26 letters in order. A corresponding to 1, B corresponds to 2, and so forth. In this way, each letter corresponds to a number.

Okay, I’ll give you a few more hints. It isn’t hard to see that the solution to the equation must be a positive integer. Candidates, please pick up your pen and paper now.
Talking to the NPC will allow you to get a set of algebra equation:

9x + 5y = 99
2x - 7y= -124

3x + 11y = 26
4x - 2y = 18

5x / 6 - 2 = (x + 4) / 2

2x^2 - 5x - 16 = 3x - 24

24x^4 - 578x^3 + 3639x^2 - 5185x - 5250 = 0

x^5 = 9765625

For the first set, we can multiply the second equation by ( 9 ) and the first by ( 2 ) to eliminate ( y ): [ 18x – 63y = -1116 ] [ 18x + 10y = 198 ]

Subtracting these, we get: [ 73y = 1314 ] [ y = 18 ]

Substituting ( y ) into one of the original equations to find ( x ): [ 9x + 5(18) = 99 ] [ 9x + 90 = 99 ] [ 9x = 9 ] [ x = 1 ]

So, for the first set we get x = 1, and y = 18. If we get to the alphabet, 1 = A, and 18 to R.

For the second set of equations, let’s use substitution or elimination as well.

Given: [ 3x + 11y = 26 ] [ 4x – 2y = 18 ]

First, we can eliminate ( y ) by multiplying the second equation by ( \frac{11}{2} ) to make the coefficients of ( y ) opposites:[ 4x – 2y = 18 ] [ \times \frac{11}{2} ] [ 22x – 11y = 99 ]

Now we have the system: [ 3x + 11y = 26 ] [ 22x – 11y = 99 ]

Adding the two equations together to eliminate ( y ): [ 3x + 22x = 26 + 99 ] [ 25x = 125 ] [ x = 5 ]

Now we can substitute ( x ) into one of the original equations to solve for ( y ).

We’ll use the second equation for this: [ 4(5) – 2y = 18 ] [ 20 – 2y = 18 ] [ -2y = -2 ] [ y = 1 ]

So the solutions are ( x = 5 ) and ( y = 1 ).

Using the same letter-number correspondence as before ( x = 5 ) corresponds to the letter E, and ( y = 1 ) corresponds to the letter A.

We will not go through the other equation but basically, it will be the same. But answering all of the remaining equation we get the following:

The answer is AREALBOY

Here are the interaction you need: Play Cute, Celebrate, Shake

Day 5 Cipher
(??? Cipher)

Good evening, Adventurer! Let’s play ADFGX Cipher today.

The cipher you need to crack is a code made up of 8 English letters!

The ADFGX cipher is similar to a chessboard cipher. The 26 letters are also arranged in order in a 5×5 table, with A as the origin point and ADFGX as the coordinates units! Today’s English letters are placed in each grid in the following order: btalpdhozkqfvsngjcuxmrewy.

In addition, the letters i and j will be placed in the same grid!

Here are the interactions you need: Play Cute, Celebrate, Shake
