Steam is one of the largest digital distribution platforms for PC gaming that allows you to purchase games and other software. This guide will show you how to buy from Steam using Gcash, Maya (Formerly known as Paymaya) and credit/debit cards.
Create your Steam Account
If you have not yet a Steam account, you need to register an account at https://store.steampowered.com/join/.
Just follow the step and you are good to go. Those who already has Steam account, just skip this step.
Topping up your Steam Wallet
Steam has its own wallet fund system where you can top up and amount then you can use it to purchase your Steam games from the store or from the community market (Skins, Avatar, etc.)
To top up, you need to go to https://store.steampowered.com/steamaccount/addfunds.
Then select the domination that you want to load. Minimum is PHP 200 and up to PHP 4,000.
Now, you can select the payment method. The available payment method is the following:
- PayPal
- Visa
- Mastercard
- Gcash
- eClub Points
For Gcash users, you can directly top up using the Gcash option. But for Maya, you can either use Visa or Mastercard, you can use the physical debit card but if you don’t have one, you can use the Virtual Card (At Maya App, Scroll right to Cards tab -> Virtual Card), then use this info to fill up the card information on Steam.
After you have selected the payment method, you need to agree on the terms and condition and hit the submit button.
For Gcash, you will be redirected to AliPay’s portal, you just need to scan the QR code to complete the order. As for Maya using VISA/Mastercard, it will automatically complete.
How to Purchase Steam Games
Once you already have money on your Steam Wallet, you can now shop on Steam store https://store.steampowered.com/ and select the game you want to buy. Just add to card the game you want.
Make sure to click the Purchase for myself button. Then it will lead you to check out page. Just click the Purchase button to complete the order.
Aside from Steam wallet, you can also automatically use other payment method (VISA, Mastercard, GCash) to purchase steam games. After that, you can now install the brand-new games you just bought on your computer.
How to purchase Steam Wallet vouchers
You may also purchase Steam wallet vouchers from Gcash and Maya, though a little bit expensive (charges 10% to 20% more than using the method above) but it is useful for sending as a gift to your friends. For Maya, go to More -> Play -> Games tab -> View All the Buy Gaming Pins -> then find the Steam Wallet. The minimum purchase is PHP 550 for 500 Steam wallet Code up to PHP 2,500 for 2,200 Steam Wallet Codes.
