A simple PlayStation gift card would have already been enough to make one GTA fan happy, but his wife decided to turn it into something much more memorable.
GamingPH recently came across the story of Eugenius Mariae Avanceña (https://www.facebook.com/groups/PlayStationPhils/permalink/28675657412097344/), who received a GTA VI-themed surprise from his wife that included a PlayStation gift card and a personalized DIY boarding pass for a fictional trip from Los Santos to Vice City.
At first, Eugenius thought the envelope was simply another love letter.
“I was really happy! At first, I thought it was just another love letter because she put everything inside an envelope,” he told GamingPH.
That quickly changed when he spotted the PlayStation logo and gift card code.
“Then I noticed the boarding pass and got confused because I thought we had somehow booked a flight for the two of us,” he said.
The moment he saw the word “Leonida,” however, everything clicked.
“But when I saw the word ‘Leonida,’ I immediately knew it was about GTA VI. I literally screamed!”
She Knew Exactly How Much GTA VI Meant to Him
Eugenius said GTA VI had become a regular topic between the couple, even though his wife was not particularly interested in the game herself.
“I’ve been showing her every new GTA VI trailer, even though I know she has absolutely no interest in the game,” he said.
She was already familiar with his love for the series thanks to the many hours he had spent playing GTA V.
He even recalled joking with her during their dating days that GTA helped him learn how to drive.
That enthusiasm clearly stuck with her.
The Boarding Pass Idea Came From Her Teaching Days
The personalized boarding pass was not a random addition to the surprise.
Eugenius explained that his wife previously worked as a teacher and had once created personalized passports for students as part of a travel-related classroom activity.
She used that experience as inspiration for his GTA VI surprise.
According to Eugenius, she also watched the GTA VI trailer and was impressed by how realistic its world looked.
She wanted the gift to feel less like receiving a code and more like taking an actual trip into the game.
The result was a custom boarding pass representing a journey from Los Santos to Vice City.
More Than Just a Gift Card
For Eugenius, the most memorable part was not simply receiving the PlayStation credit.
It was the thought behind the entire presentation.
“She could have simply given me a PlayStation gift card, and I would have already been happy, but she turned it into a whole GTA VI experience,” he said.
“The fact that she remembered how excited I was about the game and even came up with the Los Santos-to-Vice City boarding pass made it feel really personal.”
He added that it was one of those surprises he expects to remember for a long time.
“I’ll Be Your Jason, and You’ll Be My Lucia”
When asked what he wanted to say to his wife, Eugenius had a fitting message to end the story.
“Thank you for knowing the little things that make me happy. You may not be a GTA fan yourself, but you still took the time to understand why this game means so much to me and turned it into something really special.”
He ended with a playful GTA VI reference:
“I love you, and I’m definitely taking you with me on this trip from Los Santos to Vice City. I’ll be your Jason, and you’ll be my Lucia.”
Sometimes, the best gaming gifts are not the most expensive ones.
They are the ones that show someone was paying attention.
