In the world of gaming, a wireless gaming headsets are a great way to immerse yourself in your favorite games to the next level. It is the most convenient way to play games on your phone, computer, or console without having to worry about a cord getting in the way. With so many options out there, finding the right one can be difficult. The right pair will help you hear your enemies coming, keep you in the game longer, and keep your head from getting sore after hours of gameplay. However, these many benefits comes with a great price. That’s why we’ve taken the time to review for a cheap alternative, the KZ GP20 True Wireless Gaming Headset.

The KZ GP20 True Wireless Gaming headset features a Bluetooth 5.0 connection and 2.4GHz lossless connection and compatible to consoles. It has a long 68 hours of battery life and has this RGB neon light effect as well as a built-in mic.

It is priced in the Philippines for PHP 3,082. Those who are interested can get it through Shopee at https://shopee.ph/kzearphone.ph/15285586202.

At first glance, this headset looks great—it has a nice RGB aesthetic that really pops and makes it stand out from other headsets. But looks aren’t everything—the real test comes when you put it on your head and start playing games, so we will be running down all of the details of this headset and see if its good!

Packaging

The KZ GP20 True Wireless Gaming Headset comes in a black and green box with a glossy finish. It is made of regular cardboard but not in a premium quality, which is to be expected for this product category. On the front, there is a picture of the headset itself with a tagline that reads “Professional-grade gaming wireless headset”.

The back contains more information about the headset, including its features and specification written on English and Chinese.

The inside package contains a blacked plastic cutout that holds your new headset so they don’t get damaged during shipping, but I found the rest of its accessories at the back rattling when you shake the box. The rest of the cardboard are printed as well in blacked color.

There’s nothing particularly exciting about the packaging, but it does get the job done of protecting the headset.

The Headset

The KZ GP20 True Wireless Gaming Headset has a solid build and feel with matte-black finish, which gives it a sleek, gaming-friendly look that makes it easy to match with any outfit or room decoration. The slider is made in aluminum similar feel from an mid-end range headset.

The headset weighs only 0.35 kg, and its ear cups are made of plastic in a standard size with the imprinted logo at the glossy circle at center of the ear cups.

The flexible microphone is adjustable and can be moved up or down depending on how you want to wear it. It’s also in semi-gloss black so it doesn’t look out of place against the rest of the headset’s color scheme.

The RGB lights on each ear cup add a nice flair of color to the design, making it stand out from other headsets. When you turn on your PC or game console, an LED light will atomically flash in neon lightning animation through the ear cups. However, these RGB are not customizable which is a bit of a bummer. It can be turned off, by pressing the M button underneath.

It has an aluminum slider that you can adjust how much pressure you put on your earlobes when wearing them. There’s no risk of breaking these sliders like you might find with some other headsets that use plastic sliders instead! The headband and ear pads are made of synthetic leather, a material that feels soft but is firm enough to provide adequate support. The cushions on the ear cups and headband are soft but firm and have a considerable amount of memory foam on them—enough so that they won’t cause discomfort after long periods of use and breathable.

What we don’t personally like about this headset is how the text labels for the buttons are printed—they look similar to the cheap headsets we’ve seen, but if you don’t look closely, it’s not noticeable.

Performance

This headset offers decent performance as well—the sound quality is clear and crisp at all volumes and performs well on sound test for lows, mids and high comparably to other gaming headset at $200 price range – although they’re not high-fidelity as some of studio quality headset on the market today. This headset is perfect for gaming and you’ll be able to hear the surrounding in-game as well as identifying every footstep location. It also good for listening to music or watching movies with its boom sounds. However, the lack of an equalizer is a drawback for those who want to fine-tune their music playback.

As for the microphone, it picks up your voice well even in a noisy environment because of its noise-cancellation. It is enough to be use for most online games, calls and discord, but of course not as good as the studio quality microphone.

As for the latency performance, the sound delay is barely noticeable when playing on phone and console using first person shooter (FPS) games. But to check it technically, we run the headset to a latency test to show the exact latency delay of this headset. The test methodology is simple, using another wired speaker for hearing the first sound and putting the wireless headset speaker into another wired microphone to record its sound output. Comparing the delay between the wired speaker output and the wireless headset output gives us the latency delay in milliseconds (ms).

For the Bluetooth test using our systems Bluetooth v5.1, we were able to get 172ms delay. For the Wireless connection using its USB dongle, we were able to get 125ms delay. 50ms faster than the bluetooth.

Battery Life

The battery life is incredible. It advertises as being able to last up to 68 hours of no RGB, 21 hours with RGB on a single charge. Our testing revealed that the battery life can reach 30 hours with Bluetooth and 32 hours with a wireless connection turned on, all while keeping the volume at 100%. There is also a sound notification that alerts you when it reaches low battery at 10% (and keeps repeating every 10 minutes thereafter). The downside is, you cannot use the headset when it’s charging – but you can use it in wired mode using the 3.5.mm audio jack.

Wear and Tear

Since we have tested this product just for a week and testing its wear and tear is not yet possible. For that, we will update this post after 6 months if the wear and tear are great about this product and our review score may improve or not.

Conclusion

Overall, The KZ GP20 True Wireless Gaming Headset is a great product for its price range and would highly recommend it to anyone looking for a cheap alternative wireless gaming headset with incredible battery life of up to 68 hours. The sound quality is comparable to other wireless gaming headsets in $200 price range, but not as high-fidelity as some studio quality headsets. The microphone is also fairly good where it picks up your voice clearly with the added noise-cancellation feature.

As for the looks, it is a solid and straightforward design for gamers, but we personally do not like the prints and buttons that are similar to cheap headsets.

The major drawback of this headset is its lack of customizability for its RGB and sound equalizer as well as its inability to use while in charging mode. However, wired mode is available using the 3.5mm audio jack.

If you’re simply looking for a good headset that won’t break the bank then this product will definitely suffice!
