Remember Slither.io? Where your objective is to consume power-ups to grow bigger? beating other snakes to steal their consumed power-ups? and the main objective is to become a high scorer. PvPets is similar to that, but with a little bit of a twist, it is mixed with a Battle Royale where you can play a single round in just about 3 minutes. It is not a first-person shooter game, but it is an isometric game where players will fight in an open-pit 20 Player Vs Player (PVP) mode inside a battlefield map. Each round has a shrinking circle, that lets other remaining tanks to fight in close combat fight until 1 tank remain alive and became a winner.
PvPets is a free-to-play game available on Android and iOS. Right now, it gets 500,000+ install in Google Play and has an impressive rating of 4.3. In this review, we will try to cover what are the good and the bad about this game.
Gameplay
When it comes to gameplay, it has an on-screen basic control of a joystick that lets you roam around smoothly on the map. Two buttons for firing the basic arsenal and the other button is for special abilities.
Getting a new match is super fast, it will only take you about less than a minute to get passed the matchmaking. Unlike other Battle Royale games where players parachute into the map, PvPets Battle Royale will randomly spawn the tanks in the map, enough to get their own resources for starting a battle against other players.
Engaging against other tanks on the battlefield requires strategy, and varies in the tank’s unique abilities. Each of the tank’s abilities is unique to each other, these abilities come in a form of attacks, moves, stuns or special defenses.
Before the start of the game, players can upgrade their tanks to give more power. However, it is also part of the Pay 2 Win feature of the game which leads to some players having an overpowered tank. Outperforming other players may be a disappoint for some free to play players but playing consistently in the game will eventually gain an advantage against them.
A tank balance will probably an answer to this problem, but for now, let’s hope the game dev will fix some of these problems.
User Interface
The whole user interface of the game is simple yet designed with good cartoony graphics on it. Navigating across different menus is smooth and specific, there are no extra menus that could confuse users.
It is a free-to-play game and it is common that the game has a built-in monetization on it. One of those is the annoying ads on every end of the game. However, the game has an option of remove-ads when the player purchases the $4.99 in-app purchase, which makes this option passable in ads user-friendliness of the game. There are still optional ads in the game when players want freebies like keys and cash.
Sound
No loud noises, just enough to make the game feel exciting and fun. It has iconic background music that you’ll know its PvPets Tank.
In terms of combat, the sound is also helpful, it helps the player to detect nearby enemies which add to the strategy element of the game.
Conclusion
It is an addicting game that is fun and will surely remove your boredom. A 3-minute that fits all of the on the go players who want to play mobile games with their spare time or a quick time killer. If you’re a fan of tanks and battle royale, this game is for you.
