The devastation that destroys some parts of the 850-year-old cathedral Notre Dame in Paris could the full glory using the digital version of the building from the game Assassin’s Creed Unity.
Notre Dame is one of the oldest building in Paris, 6-times older than the Eiffel Tower and been a huge part of the French culture. It is also home of priceless works of art, statues, and relics of Jesus Christ.
One of the structures of the building that was damaged during the fire was the glasses, the iconic cathedral’s spire and the roofs which include woods dated back at 1160 which makes it as one of the oldest roofs of its kind in the world.
In order to rebuild those damage structures, it needs a digital replica of the building which is unexpectedly available in the Ubisoft’s game Assassin’s Creed Unity.
Assassin’s Creed Unity is set in 1789 during the French Revolution where it features the city of Paris, France and includes the stunning recreation of the Notre Dame Cathedral. The detail of work Ubisoft put in recreating every landmark in their games is usually very close to the real one and it could play a role in rebuilding effort of the cathedral.
The artist who rebuilds the Notre Dame Cathedral in Unity is Caroline Miousse, where she told Verge way back when Ubisoft releases the game that it was the biggest building in the game and she spent years fussing over details of the building. She also added that she was obsessed over the old photos to get everything right and work with texture artist to ensure every block is in the right place.
