So you play on a normal controller – with a possible touch pad in the center? and then you can take it with you. I love the detachable controllers that remind me of what the nunchuck and wiimote could have been. I think the only thing I noticed was a some framerate issues when taking the tablet with you. Looks like some fantastic tech though.
You couldn’t have noticed frame rate issues because it wasn’t real, it was rendered. They’re not gonna record people ACTUALLY playing it when it’s still in development.
2 in 1…….handheld that turn into a console when you dock it…….you can play with the detachable controllers or regular controller if you prefer…..we get options…..im in love this is perfect
When in portable mode, it trims power consumption by reducing graphical power. The SoC they are using is easily capable of this on-the-fly change. When docked, the screen is turned off, and the system runs at full power, with the entirety if the render going to the television. Since it’s docked with constant power feed, it doesn’t need to limit itself. I have nVidia’s tablet, and have it setup to do the same thing.
Nolan M Daniels depends how them implement it how swap is not a new concept. you can even have a external gpu on a laptop. there is nothing to say that nintendo did not solve the “gpu hot swap” problem
With this new console, Nintendo now needs to make their own original, no-nonsense racing simulator to compete against GT and Forza. Mario Kart simply doesn’t cut it.
So basically you want them to make clones instead of doing their own thing? Come on, leave realistic racers to the “normal” devs. Nintendo should do its own crazy thing.
i would love a realistic racer, but don’t badmouth Mario Kart. If you are picking up NX to compete with Sony and Microsoft, you are gonna be disappointed and buying this for all the wrong reasons.
Never compare Mario Kart to other realistic racing games, it’s a goddamn kart racing game
Idk, but the Mario Kart games makes people more competitive than the realisitc ones, especially when it comes the courses & items.
People would go all out whenever they get hit by red shells, lightning, spiny shell and so on
All I know is this new Mario Kart sucks due to the anti gravity, when I bump into another racer and i intentionally want to push them of the course to slow them down that’s what should happen they shouldn’t get a speed Burst that’s what ruined mk8 and the fact that kids suck an always loose.
Forza is a garbage game LOL. Telling Nintendo they’re doomed to fail if they don’t create a game personally tailored to you, despite them having just announced something that’s probably their most noteworthy release in 15 years. Classic.
To me the last two Mario Kart games weren’t all that FAST! I think double dash for the Game Cube, was the fast one so far. And the idea of the wheels turning into huffer boards was a dumb gimmick!
Seriously, keep your boring realistic cars. I wanna break the sound barrier with my hover-car with a booster that damages the hull because I feel the need for speed…Until I fly off the course or into a railing into a spectacular explosion. THAT’S fun!
Yeaah…. mario kart hits the ball out of the park as far as sales go so I think they’re good lol. Nintendo doesn’t need a good racing game because they already have one. The best thing about Nintendo is they rarely do the whole “realistic” business. They’re not known to have wicked, near realistic graphics. They keep it original with their cartoon like graphics lol
I’m mostly a handheld gamer these days, so I’m very interested in the portable aspect of this. But having a console as well is just icing on the cake for me.
You never ‘needed’ to buy 2 of the same game. But its starting to look like all the money people pumped into Nintendo is finally about to put Microsoft and Sony on suicide watch.
From the looks of it, since it is running Skyrim Remastered in full glory graphics, it will be powerful in handheld mode, but once docked into the home console it will boost processing and graphical ccapabilities.
Yeah, I’m not too worried about 4K, but I am interested in the specs. I’m fully won over, I’m 99% sure I will get one, just curious about the specs. Not trying to start a battle between systems, haha.
Ben Hopp I will say that while walking through Best Buy the other day, the 4K Ultra HD TVs were looking mighty pretty. Haha. But I do agree, it is a little early right now. Once there is more content for 4K, I’ll jump on.
Its streams 4K homies, just like the other consoles do now. Games running at 4K is a joke unless its something really simple like high rez pong, or you at LEAST one 1080 with an i7
Yeah, I think Nintendo’s pretty well got me sold on this too, assuming it doesn’t have some sort of ridiculous issues with things like the controls not clipping onto the system right or it having issues docking… Or a price point that’s excessively prohibitive.
Tyler Jackson 4K would be nice but it doesn’t help much unless you’re going into any kind of VR Mode. Now a days wearing the google cardboards or whatever you can see the pixels even on HD. So the only true benefit besides the obvious ones on 4K is flawless VR optics graphics…zero pixels. One thing at a time…lol. But this is the dream a portable console.
David Daniel Haha. Be cynical if you want to, but I opted out on both the Wii and the Wii U. The is the first thing that I’ve seen from Nintendo in a long time that looks GOOD, so excuse me for being excited.
David Daniel personally I’ve never cared about specs and I rarely play other systems. I’m not a hardcore gamer, but I’m a Nintendo fan through and through. I dig their style. I’ve never been disappointed with any of their systems before now, so I think it’s pretty safe to assume I won’t be disappointed with this one.
I have a Wii U. Love it! I use it for media, and playing games. The games I have aren’t buggy, Virtual Console, can play/watch in my room. Only downside was lack of third party, but I have a PS4 as well. This Switch looks highly promising. I have a 3DS I play often. This will fill the gap.
Just put 1080p with 60 stable frame rate is quite enough. 4K is unnecessary since nintendo user prefer a better gameplay ( Miyamoto sorcery 😀 ) than just a plenty visual on higher dpi. The last questions is how long we can play in mobile mode? Because I prefer play handheld than as a home console :d.
The early rumors put this at 720p. I don’t know if any more recent ones have contradicted that, but even if that turns out to be the case it honestly doesn’t bother me at all.
I don’t want 4k. That would just inflate the pricing of the system too high. Give me a USB 3 port so I can save my games on a universal storage device and a gigabit ethernet port on the dock instead.
Square Enix, Ubisoft, Capcom, Sega, Tecmo Koei, Bandai Namco, and many others, now including Bethesda (a huge deal for Nintendo) have already pledged support. Even CD Projekt Red says they’re very impressed by it. We’ll see where it goes, but to me it sounds like they’re doing things right this time around.

I’ve been saying it too! When Nintendo merged their console and handheld divisions into one building a couple of years ago, that pretty much confirmed in my mind that this was going to happen. It was just a matter of when not if.
I’m still waiting for the price tag. You don’t shove good 1080P graphics into a tiny handheld for cheap.
And I’m still a naysayer until I see good games. Looks like all they’re launching with is last-gen games and a bunch of cell phone crap.
And Jeck, unless you have a gaming PC that’s more powerful than my gaming PC you can’t talk crap in here because even a mildly modified PC will outperform a console.
I think i just died by having a huge sigh of relief.
This looks spectacular.
And that 3d mario looked good too. 😉
But seriously. Its graphics are good, its portable, I can play it on a plane.. the only downside is that breakable looking screen. Ahaha. I cannot wait for march
I got away with playing Goat Simulator on my tablet. Just turn the wiffy off unless it’s one of those planes. They can’t have a problem with it! Well not until one emerges… will it play goat simulator? (I kid! Oh god I made a pun too look what you’ve started!)
I wouldn’t worry too much about the screen. Nintendo’s generally pretty good about durability. My 3DS XL and WIi U Gamepad can both attest to this, given the number of times I’ve accidentally dropped them on a hard surface.
One thing I’m curious about is if it has an external charger for when you’re playing away from the dock. Also, if they have an eShop, how that’ll work, and if the tech allows for backwards compatibility with the 3DS :O I suppose we’ll find out in due time, but so far I’m impressed! Geeking out over the possibilities of a console-level Pokemon game in the future <3
If it’s being marketed as a hand held, it will have to have an external charger.
I’m guessing it will be the same charger you plug into the wall when it’s in ‘at home’ mode.
Every single game Nintendo has put out for the past 20 years has been a reskin of their original N64 version.
Nintendo doesn’t even make their own games anymore…seriously…name one game that they’ve made in-house in the last few years. I’ll wait.
Don’t pretend like you don’t play older games on newer systems…backward compatibility is the sole reason the Xbox Three is selling and it’s to the point where Microsoft is now planning on adding original Xbox backward compatibility.
Gordon Freeman you could have transfered data directly from the Wii to the Wii u, and played over the Wii menu that’s inside the Wii u from literally day one. More work, yes, but doable.
It wasn’t implemented until after the launch window, even.
I even spoke with Nintendo customer service about it and the nice lady said that that’d been 90% of the calls they’ve received and they had an official script thay they’d been given and she was ready to take my complaint.
I even made a crappy YouTube video about it at the time.
“Name one game they made in house in the last few years”
Splatoon
Super Mario 3D world
The currently unreleased Zelda game for Wii U and NX
Paper Mario Color Splash
Yoshi’s wholly world
Super Mario Maker
Need I say more?
Who gets rid of their old consoles? Just play the Wii with your games that you bought. How many Xbox live games did you get to transfer to Xbox one? I was able to transfer like 2 or 3 but they were games I didn’t like very much. And no the newer titles aren’t re skinned versions of older games.
Gordon Freeman I think you missed the part where now there will only be 1 console. NO more portable or console market, just this so there is nothing to merge.
Remasters seem to sell well. It’s the same game and people buy it again. It’s how the world turns. It’s just the way it is. Save money, make a buck. Not everyone can be Google.
Will Mortimore what? I expect games I buy on my Samsung tablet to transfer over to my HTC phone, because… they do. It’s all Android. Nintendo needs to treat itself like an OS. For years, old folks have been seeing it as “all Nintendo” and that’s massively untapped branding. The only people who rebuy old SNES roms on multiple systems are diehard suckers.
That’s just it Will Mortimore, a good 80% of my digital purchases from ps3 also work on my psp and vita so yes I do in fact expect nintendo to have a digital storefront that Sony was capable of making 10 years ago.
What you are really complaining about is the industry and the sales that drive the industry. Everything you say is true for all current gaming systems. Stupid people buy stupid games therefore more stupid games are made. Get over it and become a dev instead of crying.
This portable console makes the 3DS obsolete. Furthermore, continuing production of 3DS consoles and games conflicts with this new system’s mobile features.
Japan is a primarily handheld market. Nintendo is a Japanese based company. They’ll cater to their domestic business, obviously. If the 3DS is continued, that will impede on the sales performance of their new system. Why would they do that? They wouldn’t. The 3DS will be phased out so the customer base will upgrade.
Having both a portable and home-based console allows for a larger install base which leads to more games sales. More game sales mean more money for Nintendo.
You may say “well, then they can just continue the 3DS and get those game sales.” Yes, but then they’ll run into hardware limitations and miss out on console revenue.
You could say the same thing about the industry as a whole. Not much has changed since N64/PSone days. Franchises are pretty much interchangeable. Since we went 3D nothing has really blown our minds. COD is similar every year. Halo, GTA, Gran Turismo, Madden etc.. Just like Mario, Smash, etc. New paint makes it look pretty. And I don’t mind painting every once in awhile. I don’t see it as a problem. Yes, I agree the whole industry has been disappointing over the years as far as progression goes. But they’re still games. Games, bro. And games are fun. At least Nintendo rolls the dice more often and tries different ways to play them.
AJ Johnson, yes, I agree that the industry has become somewhat stagnant and lowest-common-denominator, if you would.
But Nintendo just doesn’t care anymore.
They can’t even be bothered to make their own Star Fox game.
Even with guaranteed money…think of how much they’d’ve sold if they got Sega to HD remake F-Zero GX and include the AX content…throw in a course creator and such and I’d probably be playing Wii U every day.
But Nintendo is so disjointed and doesn’t listen to what the fans actually want.
I digress, however…this thread is about their eshop problems.
Gordon Freeman The GBA was discontinued earlier than 5 years, it was just remaining stock was available for a while after and no big first party titles were made for it after the DS launched. (Zelda Minish Cap was released after the DS here but it had already been out a while in Japan before the DS)
Jay McLellan, I have over 900 physical Nintendo games ranging from Famicom (and earlier Atari/Coleco releases) the whole way through Wii U. I also have an original 19th century deck of Nintendo cards.
But, sure…I’m not a Nintendo fan if that doesn’t suit your narrative.
Honestly, I’m underwhelmed. The mini side controllers that slide on look like they would be horrible to use independently so. Also, I wonder how dirty those “tracks” will get or how sturdy they are. Seems like they could break easily. Also, not a huge fan of cartridges. Seems like they are going backwards.
I’m also underwhelmed, but with recent advances in flash memory, cartridges are actually massively better than discs at this point. The main advantage of discs was storage space. Not a problem anymore for carts.
re: cartridges: pretty much what everyone else said. plus i’d be really, really surprised if there wasn’t a digital download version of most/all titles
re: the tracks getting dirty: this isn’t a problem exclusive to this system. my traditional controllers get dirty all the time with normal use
re: the independent side controllers: are you sure they’d be tough to use? they look pretty similar to wiimotes
Tim Phillis Screw you a-hole. I own a Wii and WiiU and neither of the other systems. My kids generally use them. I’m more so a PC gamer. Speaking from a rational perspective. So sorry you disagree, but that doesn’t make me a troll. Get a life.
Mike Weedmark True. Not a big fan of discs either. I’d rather use download and install like on my PC, but I suppose this way you can at least turn around and sell them off.
The side controllers look like compact Wii remotes. You only use them stand alone for multiplayer games on the go or playing on the go at a distance which I can’t see being popular with that tiny screen
The use of cartridges was probably to emphasize the portability of it. Want to carry around a 90’s style CD carrier or a little bag full of SD cards that can’t be damaged really?
Another gimmicky system by Nintendo. I was hoping they would go back to basics but nope, instead they double down on the type of stuff that has completely bombed in the past. Im willing to bet that with the size of the system and the price point the specs are going to be garbage.
It becomes portable. Optical disk drives will consume more power, and if there is any shaking, can sometimes be disrupted. Lens gets dirtier quicker and easily. Cartridges are faster loading times, less power consumption, easier to store.
They are moving in the most logical way forward with that.
The tracks getting dirty can be alleviated by being cleaned. It’s not a hard concept to grasp.
Anything can ‘seem’ something, but you can’t tell for sure until someone actually tests it.
The controller comment I can kinda agree with.
Overall, Nintendo is going with a forwards momentum.
Timur Celikel, you have no idea what you’re even going on about. Carts can hold much more data than discs these days, Sony makes companies pay royalties for using Blu-Ray, which can only hold 50GB per disc or 128GB for BDXL. Flash cards have a current capacity of 512GB, not to mention no moving parts which could result in failure of the console to read games, especially with the portable nature of the system. You have no idea about the specs or the price point, so this is pure speculation and trolling on your part.
Funny how a few are ignoring the reg controllers being used for multiplayers and you can use the screen as a tv too. I wanna know if it has a hdmi in port as well if it does you can play the other two consoles on that screen as well. Its brilliant
Steve Pitsch There is some sort of plastic attachment that can connect both parts of the controller so that you get the feel and the dimensions of a regular controller.
This lines up with all the rumors and “leaks”, which is a good thing because the hybrid concept is a great concept. It was something I was hoping for back when the Wii U was announced. Nintendo has always tried to be innovative to stand out from the competitors, and their ideas has always impressed me.
That docking station looks like it has some power behind it. Please let it be a supplemental computing device. If it is the switch could be around the spec level of the PS4 pro.
As for people who complained about a gimmick you really cant complain now. The gimmicks are optional. You can play it with a standard controller, or Wii U gamepad style but anywhere!, and you can play it Wii style. They safisfy everybody.
Also that 3rd party support? Killlllummmmm
Edit – I do however hate the analog placements on the controllers….
I seriously wondered why you’d release a console in March but this is why it is genius…..it’s tax season and they’ll be less likely to compete with the other consoles and new games. Plus it’ll allow people to see these things out and about for eight months wondering what they are and looking into it. There will be so many kids begging for these by Christmas that they’ll sell like crazy. It allows the developers time to release more games for it as well by Christmas season when most people are buying this sort of thing. I’m not waiting though.
Oh I get it! Like what the Wii U should’ve been. So excited, I just hope the digital titles I’ve bought carry over to the Switch (just as my 360 purchases have carried over to my Xbone). No excuse for Nintendo’s marketplace to be such a mess. I really hope the Switch is as cool as it looks here.
Not impressed. Only thing that sparked my interest was the Mario Game on there looked a lot like Mario 64 type. Zelda and skyrim. Got the witcher and hd skyrim next week. Il play zelda on my wii u. One thing they had better do with this console is Amiibo support. Lotta money went in to those for people.
Well Kenneth White thanks for your opinion. UNFORTUNATELY, the Wii series is not dead but apparently changing its name to switch. All the people that collected amiibos that did what they could to get exclusives would disagree with you. I have a few mostly of classic characters I like with no intention of use but there are people out there with giant collections. I would feel a little for them if they dropped support. Until Nintendo gets its head on straight, stops polishing last gen titles, stops chasing off devs, gets a competent online system, and gives fan demanded virtual console titles I think the ship will sink. This coming from someone whos always loved nintendo btw.
There are Amiibos in the video if you look closely, so I don’t think they would be dropping support now. There would be a lot of uproar if they did, considering they’re not even that old.
Yoooo this is the first real innovation in home video game consoles in years and you’re focusing on Amiibo? I mean yes, they would be making a mistake not to include amiibo but that’s hardly relevant. That would be like if Google finally finished the self driving car and everyone was concerned whether or not they would have cup holders, ya know?
Christopher Wilke this switch is brilliant people play mobile games cause they are easy and convienient this turns a console into a portable and back again its awesome who wouldnt want to play skyrim easily on the go without having to boot up a pc or laptop
Im Not saying I look down on portable gamers, I just cant get immersed while im out and about. Need to camp out. Probably why im not impressed. I have ds and 3ds but I only have them to play certain titles. I dont take them places.
I use my 3DS mainly when I fly, or when I’m over at my girlfriend’s house hanging out or waiting for her to get off work. It’s great to have for times like that, or sometimes when I wake up and don’t want to get out of bed yet I’ll grab my 3DS and play for a bit.
I can see that! I can’t focus when I’m sitting around a bunch of people with my 3ds. I feel like setting up the screen and having a controller would help a bit with the “camping out” scene
As long as Nintendo can remain the king of local multiplayer I will always be a customer. Aint nothing like having some drinks with your buds and getting down on some mario kart or supersmash. Always will love zelda though I think Witcher Knocked it out of the park and it will take a minute for nintendo to catch back up.
I cried. This is the Nintendo I’ve missed for so, so long. This is the Nintendo that gets its base. Thank you so much Nintendo. I will be buying the Nintendo Switch. This looks amazing!
Especially the honest-to-goodness 3D Mario game! With visuals like that, I feel transported back to Mario’s best moments: Sunshine and Galaxy. Truly transformative gameplay. I’m confident that you’re capable of that. So again, thank you.
From the very first time I touched a videogame I knew Nintendo was simply the best. Even though you guys messed up for the market the last years, I have never stopped believing you and in what nobody does better than you: fun. Congratulations, this console is simply awesome.
I CANT WAIT!!! I know people are gonna complain but that always happens. This looks amazing, the features that were shown shows so much potential. I’m so hype for this system I hope this helps bring Nintendo to compete with the other systems again.
Full Nintendo on a plane?
Full Nintendo on a train?
Would you like Zelda here and there?
Super Mario everywhere?
Metroid and Smash Bros in a house?
All of those games *out* of the house!
Mario Party in a box,
Go on the road with StarFox!
More than just a 3DS,
the games from TV, anywhere, yes! #GreenCoinsAndHam
Nintendo: you’ll be able to play on the go!
Me: I have motion sickness so I’ll pass
Nintendo: You can take it to social gatherings and play multiplayer!
Me: I’m anti-social and not a fan of “gatherings”, so I’ll pass
Nintendo: But you and your friends can play together on it!
Me: *gets up* Okay I’m just gonna go…..that’s the door over there right? Good luck Nintendo, good luck *starts to walk towards the exit*
Nintendo: WAIT! Um….uhhhhhh…..wait wait wait!! YOU CAN PLAY SKYRIM WHILE SITTING ON THE TOILET!!!!!
Me: *stops, turns and walks back towards Nintendo and sits back down* ……go on….
A Console that can change into a hand held at will, with an interchangeable controller that’s powerful enough for Skyrim. That’s all that needs to be said
This is an effective ad, but they show people using this system in so many ways that would never happen in real life. Your friends aren’t going to gather around you and your friend and watch you play mario cart around a 7″ screen while holding their solo cups like it is a giant party LOL
I’ve no doubt the handheld version will need to reduce the graphical power, since it won’t have the entire system’s power.
Pretty sure the tablet IS the entire system. The thing that you slide it into is probably just a docking station.
You couldn’t have noticed frame rate issues because it wasn’t real, it was rendered. They’re not gonna record people ACTUALLY playing it when it’s still in development.
The tablet is the entire console. The other thing is just a stand
2 in 1…….handheld that turn into a console when you dock it…….you can play with the detachable controllers or regular controller if you prefer…..we get options…..im in love this is perfect
Vaughn Wilcox right. You can’t just “plug in” extra gpu power while a modern game like Skyrim is running on the fly like that. At least not yet.
Nolan M Daniels it looks more in production than in development. Tbh
Nolan M Daniels Then that Zelda rendering had framerate issues.
Paul Morilak I wonder if they will include an optional powersupply to take with you like for your car or actually plug in – or at least usb charged?
You didnt see the regular 360 style controller, LOOK AGAIN
John Paul I would hope so. Battery life could be an issue.
If you’re talking about that weird graininess, it’s on the console version too. It’s a commercial, not a demo.
When in portable mode, it trims power consumption by reducing graphical power. The SoC they are using is easily capable of this on-the-fly change. When docked, the screen is turned off, and the system runs at full power, with the entirety if the render going to the television. Nolan M Daniels depends how them implement it how swap is not a new concept. you can even have a external gpu on a laptop. there is nothing to say that nintendo did not solve the “gpu hot swap” problem
How did u notice framerate issues on simulated screens….
That dock has full hardware in it to render the games
This thing was announced less than an hour ago and we already have experts arguing with each other. lmao this is a fb record.
…Well, I’m impressed! Also WAS THAT FREAKING SKYRIM?! Or some kind of Elder Scrolls game? And a new Mario and Splatoon?!
That was skyrim alright!
Definitely Skyrim. Probably the remastered edition, which would be why it looks somewhat different than you’d remember.
That was just 3D World and the first Splatoon I think.
If its the remastered edition, that could hint the specs that this thing comes woth.
It was Skyrim. They took that and 2K to show the graphics and processing were up to par with the PS4 and XBox One.
Noah Gibson That was definitely NOT 3D World. Could be a sequel, sure, but it wasn’t a port of the Wii U game.
It was also NOT Splatoon. Did y’all see the Inklings’ hairstyles?
Darrell R Hinkle At first I thought it was 3D world, but there’s no stage or angle that looked like that.
It’s the new splatoon
Todd Christiansen Yes! That hairstyle had me confused for a bit!
New splatoon. Both had a new map (some sort of bridge) plus the weapons are different and hairstyles!!!! Also the way they spawn is also different.
David Ruiz The graphics were alot better than 3d World !!
No probably Splatoon 2 & a new Mario game
Those are NEW games, why would Nintendo port their old games to a upcoming console? Non sense, I’m definitely excited to play all the new games on it
That was skyrim bro! Be hype!
Darrell R Hinkle that was def not 3D world. I don’t remember any level looking like that in that game
Is a new splatoon! You can’t play splatoon with a regular controler in multiplayer! And also pants customization!
And now that I am rewatching the trailer, you couldn’t hold two items at once in Mario Kart 8, neither play as King Boo
That looked like Mario sunshine
Did you all see the inklings pants?
Yes it is skyrim. You got hyped seeing a 7th gen game on a 9th gen console?
New Legend of Zelda game. Map bigger than Skyrim.
Mario Galaxy 3!!! Triple jump confirmed!
INKLING PANTS HYPE
Jeck Galang no we are hype for seeing a consoke game be able to be played in the go without sacrifices.
Jeck, which systems out can take the remaster of Skyrim with them wherever you go?
Yup that is indeed a new Mario game in the works.
If you don’t like it, you can look over my shoulder while I play Zelda in public, biiiiiitch
The Mario was 3d world 2
Jeck Galang, it was Skyrim Remastered, which isn’t even out yet…
Jerome Connor bruh!!!!!
Did they add King Boo in Mario Kart 8 or is that a new one?
Its skyrim remastered
It’s Skyrule w the Lone Wanderer on horseback.
“Listen!”
FOOS-RO-DA’ing**
“Tingle evaporates w every cell feeling excruciating agony as he fades into oblivion”
I need this so bad.
I could take Skyrim to family meals… Or college… Or the toilet! The possibilities are endless!
With this new console, Nintendo now needs to make their own original, no-nonsense racing simulator to compete against GT and Forza. Mario Kart simply doesn’t cut it.
Many would disagree with you
i like mario kart way more then the realistic racing games
speak for yourself
So basically you want them to make clones instead of doing their own thing? Come on, leave realistic racers to the “normal” devs. Nintendo should do its own crazy thing.
Mariokart> forza
Never say no to Mario Kart!
Mario kart has that zany aspect to it that some prefer over realistic racing games. But I’d be cool to see Nintendo put out a new f Zero!
Mario Kart, FZero, and especially Airride are much more enjoyable than realistic racings sims to me.
Joseph Angelo Ralloma exactly! That’s what makes Nintendo unique.
Mario Kart is a totally great franchise
Mario Kart doesn’t compete with Forza or GT. Doesn’t matter what you prefer. Mario Kart is a party game, not a car simulation
How about a complete redesign of FZero?
Id rather they just bring back F Zero.
nah
Nintendo doesn’t do realism. It’s just not their thing. Besides, when has a realistic racing sim ever outsold a Mario Kart game?
i would love a realistic racer, but don’t badmouth Mario Kart.
People would go all out whenever they get hit by red shells, lightning, spiny shell and so on
Are you mental? Mario Kart is king!
Mario Kart is the best racing series!
#FZero
F zero. Nuff said
All I know is this new Mario Kart sucks due to the anti gravity, when I bump into another racer and i intentionally want to push them of the course to slow them down that’s what should happen they shouldn’t get a speed Burst that’s what ruined mk8 and the fact that kids suck an always loose.
Maybe they’ll buy the Project Cars IP from Namco
Physical Fast Racing Neo Switch port.
Mario Cart was a fun game, but there are no other racing simulators, except NFS Most wanted.
Xtreme G NEEDS to come back!
Lol
Easy, bring back F-Zero
How about a new Kirby Air Ride?
Forza is a garbage game LOL. Telling Nintendo they’re doomed to fail if they don’t create a game personally tailored to you, despite them having just announced something that’s probably their most noteworthy release in 15 years. Classic.
To me the last two Mario Kart games weren’t all that FAST! I think double dash for the Game Cube, was the fast one so far. And the idea of the wheels turning into huffer boards was a dumb gimmick!
Mario Kart sells way more than those games though, so…
Jesus christ fanboys are quick to defend.
Bring back F-Zero, problem solved. 😀
Seriously, keep your boring realistic cars. I wanna break the sound barrier with my hover-car with a booster that damages the hull because I feel the need for speed…Until I fly off the course or into a railing into a spectacular explosion. THAT’S fun!
I feel like Mario Kart is better.
Whines about realistic cars needed, and fanboys defending…
Doesn’t understand these games sold more, and doesn’t thank Harambe for his sacrifice…
Harambe 4evah
Yeaah…. mario kart hits the ball out of the park as far as sales go so I think they’re good lol. Nintendo doesn’t need a good racing game because they already have one. The best thing about Nintendo is they rarely do the whole “realistic” business. They’re not known to have wicked, near realistic graphics. They keep it original with their cartoon like graphics lol
They NEED to bring back F-Zero!!!, Mario Kart is good, I get that, but I feel overwhelmed with many Mario Kart games.
F-Zero on the other hand, I NEED one more F-Zero game > x (
You mean F ZERO
Philip Eloy F-Zero is my absolute favorite racing franchise of all time. The series needs to make a comeback ASAP.
Name me a racing simulator still played today with as many people as Mario Kart 64.
Mario Kart is the best racing game
I’m mostly a handheld gamer these days, so I’m very interested in the portable aspect of this. But having a console as well is just icing on the cake for me.
same here i love that its a 2 in 1
Exactly
Yup! No need to buy two of the same game now.
You never ‘needed’ to buy 2 of the same game. But its starting to look like all the money people pumped into Nintendo is finally about to put Microsoft and Sony on suicide watch.
Would you like some frosting on that?? Heh heh i know I would lol looking forward to this game tho
That looks really amazing. It is retro, yet futuristic. Very intuitive. You have won me back Nintendo. Now show me the specs.
Yeah we wanna know !
It can run Skyrim on portable. I think those kinds of specs are pretty sweet.
Looked like skyrim remastered
Jerry Mannino II It was.
From the looks of it, since it is running Skyrim Remastered in full glory graphics, it will be powerful in handheld mode, but once docked into the home console it will boost processing and graphical ccapabilities.
So possible 4k on home dock? Honestly it needs to be to get all the naysayers to jump aboard.
It won’t be 4K.
Ps4 pro isn’t 4k just so you know before you bring that into the discussion 😉 nice attempt tho
Lol 4k. Not even the xbone s or ps4pro can do true 4k gaming. Maaaaaybe the Scorpio will. But no way will any of those be portable.
Yeah, I’m not too worried about 4K, but I am interested in the specs. I’m fully won over, I’m 99% sure I will get one, just curious about the specs. Not trying to start a battle between systems, haha.
4k is just hype. The TVs are still high $$$ , hardly any 4k movies, and 1080 P is plenty.
Games running at 4K is a joke unless its something really simple like high rez pong, or you at LEAST one 1080 with an i7
If you’re 99% sure you’re getting this after one video and no specs, you deserve all of the disappointment coming your way.
Custom AMD Tegra with Pascal, should put it on level with the Xbone and PS4, if not better.
Custom AMD tegra with Pascal. Yes because AMD and nvidia would work together.
Asking for the specs of a nintendo console is like asking for the culinary credentials of the people that put burgers together at burger king.
Duh. Meant Nvidia. Pretty sure I’ve been saying AMD all morning haha.
I don’t want 4k. That would just inflate the pricing of the system too high. Give me a USB 3 port so I can save my games on a universal storage device and a gigabit ethernet port on the dock instead.
temperature issue , how is solved ?
https://blogs.nvidia.com/blog/2016/10/20/nintendo-switch/
Ben Hopp I am in the same boat as you and love playing the Zelda remakes
Nicholas Green Xbox s does 4K.
Nintendo, all you need is a solid list of developers and you have pure gold on your hands! I haven’t been this excited since the N64!
They are off to a huge start there too… Skyrim (Bethesda), Beyond Good and Evil (Ubisoft), EA, and of course their first party line up = take my money
They got Ubisoft and Bethesda they already got a few now if final fantasy 15 comes to it
Done: https://pbs.twimg.com/media/CvN2pUIWIAAcxQ-.jpg
Nintendo has got to be doing something right if they’re getting all those third parties haha
I think that Square Enix stated that Dragon Quest 11 will be on it. It wouldn’t be surprising if Final Fantasy 15 is on it as well.
I’m since SNES.
2k sports is back on this console that right there is huge
My life would be complete with KH3
My toughts exactly
I would die if beyond good and evil came out for this, also I really hope they do, they need to redeem their old console days
I can’t put the image in here but there’s a lost out there. Its official, and it’s substantial.
With Square Enix support we might have portable Kingdom Hearts 3
If we have Final Fantasy XV, Guilty Gear and Bayonetta (as it kinda seems to play WiiU games) I’m sold for Life on this!

Basically, every game development company not involved Microsoft and Sony is involved with the system
Richard Hale except blizzard
You probably was a child when 64 cuz that console sucked
Ammar Karim Yeah, because Blizzard totally loves making console games (Let’s ignore that Overlook exists for a moment)
Alejandro Bernal I was a child when Atari was around. To each their own I guess.
Alejandro Bernal haha yeah, not like the N64 was revolutionary for it’s time or that most of them still function to today or anything, hahaha.
If your gonna get your hopes up on a powerful 3rd party support, then your gonna be really disappointed.
I’ve been saying it for years…that you’d make a portable and home console hybrid. Where are the naysayers now!? Looks amazing Nintendo!
I’ve never heard you say it before. Where is your evidence of such claims?
I haven’t heard you say this either.
Lies.
I know right! the naysayers unbelievable.
You should get money since they stole your ideas
I’ve been saying this too buddy. The rumors from 2 years ago definitely pointed in this direction
I called it before the gaming websites did. 😛
The WiiU was rumored to be a hybrid console until it actually came out
I’ve been saying it too! When Nintendo merged their console and handheld divisions into one building a couple of years ago, that pretty much confirmed in my mind that this was going to happen. It was just a matter of when not if.
We are still here laughing at you morons who will play a 7th gen on a 9th gen console LMAO
Who’s we? It’s just you jeck. Your alone here. Go troll somewhere else.
I’m still waiting for the price tag. You don’t shove good 1080P graphics into a tiny handheld for cheap.
And I’m still a naysayer until I see good games. Looks like all they’re launching with is last-gen games and a bunch of cell phone crap.
I was a naysayer and I’m right here. This hybrid idea may very well kill the double A market.
Nba 2k last gen hahahha skyrim just got rereleased for ps4 and xbone
It was a common, barely-unconfirmed rumor for years that it would be a console-handheld hybrid.
I called this like ten years ago so I win.
Cory Rankin We are aware. Some called it before it was a rumor.
I called it when I was playing my Atari, Grant. You got silver.
Innovation woohoooo
And Jeck, unless you have a gaming PC that’s more powerful than my gaming PC you can’t talk crap in here because even a mildly modified PC will outperform a console.
I think i just died by having a huge sigh of relief.
This looks spectacular.
And that 3d mario looked good too. 😉
But seriously. Its graphics are good, its portable, I can play it on a plane.. the only downside is that breakable looking screen. Ahaha. I cannot wait for march
do you think playing it on a plane would fly (lol) with the airlines?
I got away with playing Goat Simulator on my tablet. Just turn the wiffy off unless it’s one of those planes. They can’t have a problem with it! Well not until one emerges… will it play goat simulator? (I kid! Oh god I made a pun too look what you’ve started!)
Ive never had a problem on any flights with electronics yet..
As long as its not a samsung note 😉
Uh? I don’t know of any airline that doesn’t let passengers use their device
Sara Mortimer didn’t you pay attention to detail? of course there is an external charger
If it’s being marketed as a hand held, it will have to have an external charger.
I’m guessing it will be the same charger you plug into the wall when it’s in ‘at home’ mode.
The only issue is nintendo tends to use lowwer res screens. It needs to be a high quality screen like the launch model Vita.
Let’s be honest here…unless Nintendo integrates their different online store platforms, they won’t have many customers.
There’s absolutely no reason we should have to buy an NES game on portable AND the Wii…then have to buy it again on the Wii U.
If they want to merge mobile and console then this is a step they need to take.
If you’re buying a brand new system to play a 30 year old game that you could play for free then you’re doing it wrong.
If you had a VC title on your Wii you could have transferred the data to your Wii U. It’s a pretty straightforward procedure.
Josh Bergman that feature came well into the Wii U life cycle…like 6-8 months in.
It didn’t help that, at launch, Nintendo denied they would add that feature and told people to just rebuy their collection.
Gordon Freeman you could have transfered data directly from the Wii to the Wii u, and played over the Wii menu that’s inside the Wii u from literally day one. More work, yes, but doable.
Jerry Mannino II not from day 1.
Gordon Freeman No, it was available day 1 dude.
“Name one game they made in house in the last few years”
Splatoon
Super Mario 3D world
The currently unreleased Zelda game for Wii U and NX
Paper Mario Color Splash
Yoshi’s wholly world
Super Mario Maker
Need I say more?
Thinkin’ he’s trollin’.
Who gets rid of their old consoles? Just play the Wii with your games that you bought. How many Xbox live games did you get to transfer to Xbox one? I was able to transfer like 2 or 3 but they were games I didn’t like very much. And no the newer titles aren’t re skinned versions of older games.
Matthew Parrish…I said in-house.
Not outsourced.
Tell me who outsourced those games
Go ahead
Josh Bergman…not trolling.
The original point of contention stands.
There’s VC games for my 3ds that should be available cross-buy, cross-play, and cross-save with the Wii U.
If Nintendo wants to merge mobile and console…this is a step they need to take.
Not only 1st party games but also exclusives from 3rd party. The N64 had a much larger library than the Wii U
This is not the time to be a negative Nancy lol
Gordon Freeman I think you missed the part where now there will only be 1 console. NO more portable or console market, just this so there is nothing to merge.
Daniel Gallagher…so they’re completely ending the 3ds?
Yeah…that won’t happen.
Totally agree.
Well now you’ll only need one console so problem solved
Hey Gordon, go back to Black Mesa. Nintendo has been killin’ it. Learn how to use emulators lol
Splatoon that’s just one. I don’t have all day to argue with a troll
Customer service?!! Seriously?!! Those people don’t know jackshit about anything hahahahaha
What a crybaby
Remasters seem to sell well. It’s the same game and people buy it again. It’s how the world turns. It’s just the way it is. Save money, make a buck. Not everyone can be Google.
Jay McLellan:
“Nintendo has been killing it…now I’ll endorse the exact opposite of Nintendo!”
David Thompson II…so you’re also thinking that they’ll completely merge the 3ds? That won’t happen.
Gordon Freeman Just like they kept the gameboy line around after the DS came out… Oh wait..
AJ Johnson…that’s the problem.
My Wii U collection is 100% remasters…and Bayonetta and Mario Maker.
Let’s be honest, again, and say that Mario Kart, Smash, Mario platformers, etc…they’re all fairly interchangeable after the N64.
Tell me how comparable super mario 3d word is to Super Mario 64
lmao okay since you know how to make nintendo money
Well there is a reason, because they’re different systems
Nobody expects digital games they bought on their ps3s to carry over to their ps4s
Gordon Freeman bye bye 3ds this time next year will be the very last of its games
Daniel Gallagher, yes…they kept the GBC going for over a year after the GBA came out.
The GBA kept going for almost 5 years AFTER the DS came about.
Matthew Parrish…super mario 64 has massively better level design, theming, and narrative.
Mario 3d world has the exact same controls with better graphics with bite-sized stages.
Kevin Clay, Nintendo has been posting losses in all fields except the 3ds.
Couldn’t hurt to listen to their fans for a change.
Will Mortimore, when the ps4 came out, I seamlessly and with no cost transitioned from ps3 FF14 to ps4 FF14.
Make sense?
Jay McLellan, or…Nintendo can actually listen to it’s fans and you can stop denying there are issues they need to address.
Will Mortimore, literally half the games or more that I get from PS+ will play on my ps4, Vita, or ps3.
Cross-buy. Cross-save. Cross-play.
There’s zero reason that I shouldn’t be able to do all that for a Virtual Console game…especially for a game that’s 30 years old.
They need a complete renovation of the eshop
Ryan Mara…as stated before:
They kept the GBC going for over a year after the GBA came out.
The GBA kept going for almost 5 years AFTER the DS came about.
Snes still had games coming out 2 1/2 years into the N64 cycle.
Twilight Princess was released on GCN despite it being the killer app and system seller for the Wii.
Your argument is invalid.
I also imagine none of this will be a problem when everyone makes the ‘switch’ and only has one console for mobile/home use.
I really don’t see them discontinuing the 3ds.
Have you even played 3D world? It has entirely different game mechanics from sm64
Gordon Freeman The GBA was discontinued earlier than 5 years, it was just remaining stock was available for a while after and no big first party titles were made for it after the DS launched. (Zelda Minish Cap was released after the DS here but it had already been out a while in Japan before the DS)
Gordon is not a Nintendo fan, he is a butthurt troll lol
Matthew Parrish, you mean like having a different suit changes things almost like changing your cap did?
Or do you mean exactly what I said about how it’s the same but in a bite-sized format?
Daniel Gallagher, they were still actively issuing licenses and supporting the system.
That means they were still supporting it.
Also…5 years of old stock? If you believe that one then I have backwards compatible GameCube to sell you.
Move along troll. There’s nothing for you here.
Cartridges hold more than discs now lol. No loading either..
I’m also underwhelmed, but with recent advances in flash memory, cartridges are actually massively better than discs at this point. The main advantage of discs was storage space. Not a problem anymore for carts.
Cartridges are better now than they were in the 64 days. Faster load times and they can hold more than enough data…. you’re just being an idiot
You need to stop being a little Pitsch
So no more installing a game for 3 hours just to play it
re: cartridges: pretty much what everyone else said. plus i’d be really, really surprised if there wasn’t a digital download version of most/all titles
re: the tracks getting dirty: this isn’t a problem exclusive to this system. my traditional controllers get dirty all the time with normal use
re: the independent side controllers: are you sure they’d be tough to use? they look pretty similar to wiimotes
Tim Phillis don’t call him a troll it’s the Internet people have a right to an opinion stop being an elitist
Ed Bradburn They look awkwardly tiny. They might be okay, but all we have to go on is the video.
The side controllers look like compact Wii remotes. You only use them stand alone for multiplayer games on the go or playing on the go at a distance which I can’t see being popular with that tiny screen
A 1Tb SD card is coming out. You have to pay Sony royalties for using discs, and dds cost more money. Too many moving parts.
cartridge… like the ones they still use in the 3ds?or dsi? lol still use it just got smaller since the n64
Completely bypass the actual controller. Watch the video, troll.
CDs are one of the worst things to happen to video games.
Double down on failed gimmicks? Wii sold over 100 million systems.
What else can you come up with to hate on it for?
Steve Pitsch There is some sort of plastic attachment that can connect both parts of the controller so that you get the feel and the dimensions of a regular controller.
Also, there’s a pro controller.
I thought after months of reading forums, scrounging rumor mills, and getting hyped beyond words I’d be like Reggie, my body was ready.
I was wrong.
Was anyone ready for this?
It’s going to be considered gimmicky if they don’t include the standard controller in the package.
The dock is just an HDMI & USB dock. Hopefully Ethernet as well
One would normally think so but it looks pretty bulky for just a docking station.
We havent seen any type of specs. So neither you or I know.
You must work for Nintendo though because you sound very sure of yourself.
And I wonder what the battery life is like as well.
I actually prefer the analog placements. So used to the Xbox controller.
I’s not just a docking station, it increases the processing power
Nintendo never has had processing power, I highly doubt this will even meet ps4 level power, let alone ps4 pro
Perceptive bruv
100% smart!
Also, Nintendo’s fiscal year ends in March so it’ll boost up their 2016 numbers. I agree though, it is smart and looks amazing!
The 3ds released in march as well I believe.
You mean SWITCH over
Matthew Ramirez I see what you did there
Not impressed.
Who gives a crap about amiibos? That crap sucks! This is a new and better console here! The wii series is over!
I have seen new AMIIBOS , for Breath of the Wild.
But can you play skyrim on a plane without having to carry a bulky laptop. Lol.
Never been much of a portable gamer. More focused on the world around me lol.
Wow, you’re so woke. Focused on the world around you? Jesus christ I never considered it
Christopher Wilke this switch is brilliant people play mobile games cause they are easy and convienient this turns a console into a portable and back again its awesome who wouldnt want to play skyrim easily on the go without having to boot up a pc or laptop
I tried that. Had kids and now I’m broke

Love it
edgy
Lmao
A Console that can change into a hand held at will, with an interchangeable controller that’s powerful enough for Skyrim. That’s all that needs to be said
That was great lol
best comment I’ve read so far
Bless this comment.
Give this man a cookie!
Ps4 and xbox gonna copy it
I may need two docks. One for the living room and one for the bedroom when people in the living room start to annoy me.
Ronson Parilla You can already play all PS4 games on a Vita with streaming, but obviously not as fluid as this.
This is an effective ad, but they show people using this system in so many ways that would never happen in real life. Your friends aren’t going to gather around you and your friend and watch you play mario cart around a 7″ screen while holding their solo cups like it is a giant party LOL
